Tyson Fury could barely land a glove on Wladimir Klitschko? Where exactly was the masterclass?

Its not a fair or honest to compare 39 Wlad to 39 Ali.

The man was finished after those 3 hellish fights with Frazer alone. He still went on to fight Foreman , Lyle and 3 gruelling fights with Norton

Before he lost to Spinks He took a career ending battering against Shavers over 15 rounds

Then he was destroyed by Holmes a year before he fought Berbick.

He was hooked on medication and didn't/couldn't train as hard as he did in his prime. There's also the onset of his Parkinson disease. Ali was finished , he shouldn't have even been allowed to box.
There's no comparison to be made at all with Klitschko other than being the same age.

Its far more fair to compare Wlad to his own flesh and blood. From 39 -41 Vitali went on a 5 fight win streak , beating top 3 ranked Adamek in the process.
Vitali like Wlad was still prime enough to beat a certain level. Ali was was done at every level at a younger age than 39

Klitschko, yet again, was an utter disgrace with a full on deliberate headbutt where he is literally off the ground trying to hit Fury with it.

The whole "gentleman" spin was always nonsense. An egomaniac if there ever was one.

Fury and Wlad owe anybody that sat through it an apology. Cant think of a worse fight if you were trying to get someone interested in boxing. Worst fight where the HW title changed hands (Sharkey/Schmeling I the only possible argument). The fight was razor close, too. I have always vocally said I felt that way despite being in the minority.

Fury won 8-9 rounds. Not a hard fight at all to score but his margin of victory when you look at the punches thrown/landed wasn’t very significant.

So all those excuses are valid but Wlad having a depressed suicidal wife at home with his newborn is not a good reason for a poor camp resulting in his poor performance? OK.

I notice that Fury came back only after Wlad was safely retired.

    Taking no chances!

This and I'd agree with it. Fury won by throwing a punch or two more per round. A stinker of a fight.

Don't put words in my mouth.

    Well that's definitely one interpretation.

Personally, I think the idea that Fury pretended to attempt suicide and pretended to have depression to avoid a multi-million pound pay day to fight a guy he beat without too much trouble is preposterous.

I think that Fury knew that the next time round it would be a much steeper hill to climb and that's what made him depressed.

He knew Wlad wasn't fully focused during the fight, and the big wanker didn't want to risk losing his "0".

Similarly, Wilder was offered a huge payday to fight Joshua, but didn't want a loss on his record. Now he has two losses LOL - Fury was a cherry-pick gone wrong.

If that's true (and it obviously isn't) it's not a duck.

There's basically no evidence Fury was fit to fight and he didn't have a fight for three years. It's possible - however unlikely - that he pretend retired in order to avoid a man he clearly beat, forgoing millions in the process, but it's not likely and there is no proof of it.

Still, it mean that Wlad was fresher for his stoppage loss to AJ.

yes it was fairly dull , dominance usually is… The Klitschkos know about that.. Wladimir has been knocked out but he's never been shut down like that in terms of boxing… I can't think of another heavyweight at that time that would've done that to Klitschko.. just because it wasn't Ali V Frasier doesn't take away the fact that it was a great win

If a 39-40 year old Wlad fought all the fighters from his resume he would have been outboxed and KOed multiple times.

It was a masterclass in feints. Fury had Wlad bamboozled.

Vitali would have let his hands go, but not Wlad.

Boring Fight, apart from one of the later rounds (11th or 12th)
