In all fairness if done with proper technique its probably the best core training exercise (among other parts) which can only be beneficial.
Can't believe so many are impress with that dead lift? A good dead lift should be 2.5 - 3 times your body weight. Not quite there for Fury. And as others has said poor technique and not very good for boxing.
how many guys that can do 2.5 - 3 times their body weight with proper technique can get into a boxing ring and win 1 fight much less be an undefeated heavyweight top 15 guy? give the guy a break, he is in the gym working out making himself stronger and not some fat ass like 90% of the other guys out there
About half the guys down my gym, some who are office workers. And weight lifting as very little to do with boxing.
250 kg is basically 40 stone,I'd say that's 2.5 time's his own body weight? Not sure how much he weighs at the moment though,17 stone ? 17 and a bit?
yeah i doubt it...... because they have muscles? remember that has **** to do with knowing how to fight. the difference being they are office workers and not boxers.... my point . and any strengthening of your body helps if you are an athlete , do you want him to just jump rope and spar?
He weighs 18 stone ish,but whatever, for someone that has only really just started to play about with the strength training bit that ain't bad atall.
Muscles slow you down. And resistance training like that do nothing for you as a boxer. Boxing is a cardio sport not a static strength sport.
thats a stupid blanket statement to make. muscle bound doesnt help being strong does help. strengthening your legs is very helpful, your power comes from the lower half of your body..... incorporating strength training is a plus, obviously you have never seen evander holyfield when he was coming up :-(
good to know we have boxing experts and weight lifting experts on the message boards to tell tyson fury what he is doing wrong...the fat guys at home on their computer critiquing the top 15 boxer and pro athlete :happy
