Tyson Fury deadlift record-new video.

  1. Explosive power, yes.

    Static strength, no.

    Resistance training build static strength.

    Weights slow you down.

Holyfield took more roids and PEDs HGH than any other boxer ever.

Tyson pre-prison never did weights and was super fast.

148lbs woman lifts over 500 lbs.

Fury can lift as much as this much smaller woman.

So? He's not entering a weightlifting competition, so what does that have to do with anything?

One of Evander's old training regime's is openly available on the internet, that had a modified body builders regime for early in the camp. That progressed to explosive weight training and weighted plyo, and then finally 'shock' plyo (whatever that actually refers to).

  5. So why is it news/thread worthy

What next, David Haye can serve at tennis ball at 120 kph.

If he was doing something extraordinary, then sure, but reality is that, it is average.

It's a post on a boxing forum, about the progress of one part of the training of an upcoming boxer. It's not unreasonable at all. People are interested in how boxers train. It's certainly more related to boxing than playing tennis.

Anyway, pretty much no boxer is going to be a record breaker in any one aspect of their training. I've seen many pics (and interested responses from the forum) when pictures of Wlad swimming in training were posted, but I guarantee that he's not better than an average adult at a swimming club, and I don't suppose Wlad cares since he's boxing for a living and not swimming. Same goes for Tyson, he's training, having fun, and not going to win any medals for that...but so what?

  7. Not asking him to break records, but a 12 stone woman can out lift him.

And really this type of training does nothing for his boxing.

Lets not make out Fury some kind of beast in the gym, he simply is not.

The first video Kara lifts less than Tyson (500lbs = 226 kg), and the second one is of a 4 time winner of worlds strongest woman and Tyson lifts the same, despite, judging by his technique, probably only having started lifting in the last few months. Either way, they dedicate their lives to lifting. Tyson evidently only started recently, and it doesn't even matter if he is good at it.

Btw, I don't have sound on my computer here, so I'm assuming that the poster who said Tyson lifted 250kg is correct. Correct or not, the point still stands. Tyson doesn't need to lift as much as the world strongest woman to succeed at boxing. It's just part of his training regime. I guarantee that the worlds best female swimmers would decimate Wlad in the pool, in fact I would not be surprised if most average female club athletes could beat him. It simply does not matter. You're caring about something that doesn't matter, and no one is really that bothered what he can lift. It's just good that he's finally getting into shape (which is plainly obvious).

Evander Holyfield included a modified bodybuilders regime early in his camps. It's not as bad as you make out. As long as Tyson moves on from from static strength to explosive methods, then it's no issue, and judging by training regimes of ATG Holyfield, it probably has some benefit. I'd rather take lessons from Holyfield's regime designed by a PhD in sports science, than 99.99% of people on the internet.

No one is making him out to be a beast in the gym. You accusing people of something that is not happening in this thread. Half the people are saying he has bad form, and a few are saying it's ok for someone who doesn't lift and is so tall, and one or two are saying it's impressive in that context (a newbie to lifting who happens to be 6'9"). Literally no one here thinks he is some sort of weight lifting legend, let alone a decent weight lifter compared to the average gym rat.

Let's not forget that he doesn't even have a fight arranged right now. He has a couple of months to switch out the weights for plyo and other more boxing specific exercises when the camp finally gets underway.

I've seen videos/pictures of Khan and Broner deadlifting plus one of Mayeather doing lat pulldowns. Who says boxers don't lift weights?

  11. I say boxer's shouldn't lift weights.

    Resistance training is no good.

Light weight done at speed for explosiveness OK.

Heavy weights to build static strength, pointless for boxing.

Well if D4thincarnation says so it must be right. I'll be sure to tell Mayweather, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Khan, Broner and Tyson Fury (amongst many others I'm sure).

I imagine so. He's a former linebacker. He's been lifting weights his whole life. Doesn't make him a better boxer though.

Mayweather doesn't lift weights. Just a head weight to strengthen his neck, and gravity balls and the like.

Does not look like those bumpers add up to 250 kg and he pulls with straps. Only that oaf could make a simple pull look ugly and inefficient. The U.K. actually has some great deadlifters and powerlifters, you would think he could find one and get some instruction.

Haye has supposidly pulled 300 kg. I recall seeing some vid of him pulling a light weight and he had much better technique.
