Still not sure its a great move. Furys a free spirit. Wasn,t long ago he wanted to quit boxing for ever under peters regimine. Sugar hills wont be all that different....the difference with him and peter or ben is if fury doesnt fancy it on one of his lower days. Sugar will have other people to see. Ben used to persevere till he got somewhere. Still feel hes left ben because bens now taking it more serious. It started off as fun for him but when he seen the critism...he started feeling the pressure and in turn hes tried to make fury work harder.

There was nothing wrong with furys boxing under ben....hes just slightly slower now etc because of the lay off/excess on the body. Thats freddy roach and now sugar hill talking about power/stopping people etc. Not sure these guys know fury quite as well as Ben or peter. Be interesting to see what happens. But its like their trying to fix a problem thats not broken.

I hope he looked after Ben when they split, the guy did a lot for him and probably put up with a lot whilst doing so.

Best pal works with Ben's brother. He said that ben wanted fury in an 8-10 week camp, Tyson said no he wants to enjoy Christmas and then do a 7 week camp.

Davidson effectively said if he is training him he needs him to do things properly and he knows how long Tyson needs to be at his best. Tyson wouldn't budge and has basically said play by my rules or play elsewhere. No hard feelings, still good mates but that is where it came to an end.

That's interesting, thanks for passing it on.

Fair play to Ben for sticking to his guns. That relationship between a trainer and a fighter is an odd one in that the fighter is employing the trainer but for it to work the trainer has to be able to rely on the fighter following instructions. If Tyson was making rules up to suit himself it's likely it was time to call it to a close.

That is what I was discussing with my mate, its a strange dynamic. The employee is paid to tell the boss what to do in a sense.

If Tyson goes out there and he gets knocked out, no matter what round it is Ben will be in for so much stick and subsequently be in a worse position reputation-wise after the fight. Being fit and alert in this fight is a must. He almost got it spot on the first time but he knows this time round he will need to be able to throw more punches but still have the agility and foot movement to avoid the right hand for the whole fight. After the last outing, Ben knows 7 weeks isn't going to do it and doesn't want his name attached to it would be my guess. I imagine he would have tried to get Tyson to budge but I cannot imagine that is an easy task when it comes to him seeing his family and enjoying Christmas.

It struck me that previously they'd kept Tyson on an almost continual fitness program, all the way through the Seferi, Pianeta to Wilder and they didn't wait too long before Schwartz and then Wallin. The cut however forced a pause and I wonder if that, coupled with the distractions of wrestling, book tours etc have made Fury harder to handle?

Who knows what his fitness level is at, certainly Wilder's will be superb though and I don't think 10 weeks is too much to ask given the gravity of the fight and the need to box flawlessly for the full 12.

If Fury slips up now this will look like a massive own goal.

Completely agree, he needs to be at his very best for every second of every round to get the win. Can he be better than the last fight with a 7 week camp? I doubt it but we will see.

Incidentally Fury uploaded a video last night giving Wilder stick and he looks drunk in it. Imagine he fell off the wagon now.

Christmas is another reason as to why the February 22 date seemed so odd. Fighters are only human and will want to enjoy themselves. It's not like they need to make the date because it's cheap. With Wilder fighting so recently as well it just always looked like it made sense to line this up for a big April/May date.

Does anyone know why late February was chosen anyway?

Is it seen as a good time to go to PPV market? Not many other fights to go up against?

I try not to be completely cynical about the whole thing, because next lol start wondering about that last fight again, but If they've always been thinking about three fights between them, maybe its to be able to schedule the third for nov/Dec perhaps with an easy fight for each man in between?
