Yeah but that's also irrelevant because when he actually did face him he lost. It's a results business, no excuses.
Only if they base decisions on fiction. It might have been closer, but it hasn't like del was in charge and passed.
Yeah, I'd rank Chisora ahead of Fury right now, despite the defeats. Beating Helenius easily and doing as well as anyone has (I know.....) vs Vitali in quite some time out-ranks being involved in a couple of shootouts vs average opponents and receiving at least one questionable stoppage. You've really got to question where Fury is heading right now, his dedication, professionalism and also those who are guiding him. He still looks fat, still apparently isn't making much effort to correct his flaws etc - which is clear from those showings..... and now has been guided away from a domestic showdown with Price. Chisora meanwhile turned up fat for one fight, lost, and learnt the lesson from it. Since then he was on the wrong end of one of the worst decisions ever, and got a title shot off the back of that performance. Funny old world :yep
It wasn't a justification for Fury to be ranked higher. I was saying it's irrelevant if you think he could win now, he didn't when they fought.
I'd rate Chisora above Fury. He was out of shape against Fury and has improved since then. His defeat to Helenius was actually a robbery. And he did quite well against Vitali. It's not rocket science. You should get rated on recent results. Fury has plenty of room and time for improvement too. If Chisora is ever allowed to box again, maybe Fury will be established as a genuine contender. I think Fury has potential. I don't think he's much good, but he's a lot better than he was 3 years ago. Another year he might be good, 2 years he might actually be very good. Or he might improved very quickly, we don't know. Let's face it, all these rated guys at heavyweight start out kind of crap, and are built up with clever matchmaking, publicity, and good training.
I think almost everyone also has to acknowledge that Helenius did seem to injure his hand early on against Chisora. He had him hurt early doors, and after hurting his hand didn't look the same and Del Boy took over. (Not sure about the shoulder injury stuff though.) I also see no reason to doubt Vitali Klitschko's claims of injuring his shoulder - guy has had major injury issues over the years, and his jab was almost non-existent against Chisora due to the shoulder injury. I'm not saying Tyson Fury would have done better against those guys in the same circumstances, but I also don't think a geed up - or is that G'd up? - Chisora looking good in those fights is an accomplishment in itself. He was robbed against Helenius, sure, but what did he actually achieve against Vitali? Other than not getting knocked out?
Fury doesn't deserve to even be in the top 20 maybe even top 30, ring ratings are meaningless now anyway but this is still bad
Chisora should def be rated higher than Fury. Even though he has lost 3 you have to take into account the quality of opposition and performance. His quality of opposition has been much higher than Fury.
I like The RING magazine in general, and do hold their title in a higher regard than most of the alphabelts - mostly due to the history though, as GBP owning it takes some shine off of it - but some of their divisional rankings are absolutely dross. There's the American bias, sure, but that's to be expected - but some of the non-Americans they throw it to show objectivity are laughable.
Tyson Fury in the top 10 is laughable but I'd actually give him a good chance at beating some of the other mugs in that list.
