    I haven't watched the fight.

One thread says "Tyson Fury is a shadow of his former self, sad to see."

Another one says "Tyson Fury looked sensational."

    So what's the consensus.

He looked fine to me. Didn’t get a KO but he’s not a known puncher anyway. Probably wanted the rounds anyway.

I’m confused about why Pianeta got the call. He lost to Kevin Johnson and another guy last year.

You may consider that fight a masterful display of boxing but I consider it probably the worse heavyweight fight I have ever seen.

Yet Fury beat old past prime Wlad without going life and death with him unlike Joshua.

There could be a few things at play here but I attribute Fury's lack of shine in his las fight to inactivity, which is the obvious. Or could it be due being PED free, who knows, but what I hope it's not is discrediting Wilder for a potential victory.

I watched it live he did win every round and was never in trouble. He was also in with a guy with little ambition, but who also landed shots.

It's almost a repeat of Fury from a few years ago. He looks very beatable. He then went on to dethrone Wlad, on Wlads home turf.

It's unfortunate he took peds and the drug binge, if he loses to Wilder the excuse will be that it's not the same Fury from the Wlad fight. A shame.

I agree. Fury didn't look like the Fury who took Chisora apart to me.

    I think Wilder beats him

It was both a masterful performance and a terrible fight . Stinking the place out was Fury's only route to victory, and he took it. Klitschko's strengths were a devastating jab, a nuclear right hand, and invincible self-confidence; with his mental warfare during the press conferences and awkward style in the ring, Fury took those away from him. It might not have been pretty but it was brilliant from a strategic point of view.

Fury's form is very hard to judge, as he is as horrible to watch at his best, as he is at his worst! But, I fear he will still be too rusty when / if the Wilder fight arrives. Wilder can look second best against even mediocre opponents (Ortiz, Spiltzka) but win with a single windmilling exchange. To win, Deontay only needs one flurry (especially with a sympathetic referee); Fury would have to box the perfect, risk averse fight for 12 rounds, and I am doubtful he still has that in him.

I rewatched the fight. In hindsight, I was too harsh on Fury last night.

On his best day, he is a spoiler. The problem with Pianeta-level opponents is that there's nothing to spoil. Whereas he at least had to earn your respect by entirely negating Wladimir, Pianeta simply brought nothing to the table offensively.

So you have Fury practicing his defense along the ropes, going forehead to forehead and fighting inside, working the body (his best offense last night), essentially turning the fight into a sparring session. His conditioning looked good and his movement improved, but still not where he was in 2015. I think regaining all of his movement will be critical versus Wilder, but I also believe Deontay is a terrible matchup for any version of Fury.

I didn't think he looked that bad really. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much better he looked this time than against Seferi. I do think he'd be better off having another fight before Wilder though.
