A fighter loses a fight and the narrative is that he was never a good fighter to begin with. Fury lost to Usyk let's put it into context. In a fight in which he swung the momentum back after losing the opening rounds. If Fury is no good then by contrast Usyk is no good either. People love filling in the blanks with pure speculation. Only Fury could have come back from obesity and drug addiction, yeah only Fury. He was only at 60% after his comeback in all his fights, how does anybody really know, they don't. I don't know whether it was Usyks pressure but Fury was close to gassed by the end of the 6th round. The Fury that was herky jerky the whole fight with Wlad and in Wilder 1, is probably gone but I wouldn't say that means he's spent. Boxers have to adjust over time, Lewis had to he slow down and adapt but was still elite. So is Fury imo
Well I think it's pretty obvious Fury was in much better form vs Usyk compared to when he fought Ngannou when he was completely out of shape. Fury weighed 277 vs Ngannou compared to 262 for Usyk.
Yes he was in better shape for Usyk. Does not change the fact that he is in a clear decline since 2nd Wilder fight.
He turns 36 in August. You can add a few years on for all that lager beer, cocaine, obese and inactivity. It's over. Usyk and Ngannou both older than him. But took care of themselves, lived It.
But it's also fair to say Usyk is by far the best opponents hes ever fought. Your saying Fury has been in decline since Wilder 2 but hes looked beatable in alot of fights and has been floored 8 times in his career. The only notable opponent Fury has beaten as champion outside of Wilder is Whyte, and I also think it's fair to say the version of Fury who fought Usyk is definitely the best version of Fury we've seen since the Whyte fight.
That's not saying much. You can see between Wilder 2 and 3 a decline. Same opponent. Usyk is 37 himself. I do not believe Fury is some sort of magician or exception to the rules of nature. At 35, with his woeful habits, he's not going anywhere now. He's done.
Usyk beats any version of Fury is my guess. Maybe you're being Fanboy though. The thread is not about Usyk. It's about Fury being finished.
Stop it. Stop trying to drag Usyk down to Fury's level. He has preserved his body and overall health immeasurably better. He never did pub crawls (literally) like your hero. You have been pushing this false 'they are both equally damaged goods' narrative for way too long now. Look at how Fury looked at the weigh-in. Look how much looser his skin was on his neck, face, and everything. Look at that turkey neck, those wrinkles. Usyk legit seems to be the younger man of the two. You were like Fury, boasting about how much he drinks, eats, and jerks off, and you thought it would never catch up to him. It caught up to him alright, and it showed last month. Fury has two options from here: retire like the beaten coward he is, or face Usyk once again to receive his overdue and well-earned KO defeat. For all the talk that could potentially damage the mental health of others, all the aging of Usyk, cherry-picking fights, lying to the public, and derailing the division, for all the years of disgusting behaviour he displayed, that’s the very least he deserves: lying on the canvas beaten to a bloody, unconscious pulp with fractured facial bones. He needs to pay for the way he acted towards his peers, the boxing fans, and boxing in general, and Usyk is the taxman to collect what Fury owes to boxing. But we all know Fury to be a gutless coward, so the rematch won't happen, of course. We won't ever see Fury in the ring as a professional fighter again, and we certainly won't see him stepping in the ring against Usyk again.
We have very different perceptions. I detest him all the more for what you described here. He is like the spoilt aristocrat who squanders his fortune while bragging about living this amazing life. I always preferred hard workers. In Usyk, you have the best of both worlds—a generational talent who also works hard. Also, you just proved that Fury was a cherry picker for almost a decade. He could compete at this level exactly because he avoided everyone who was dangerous. He avoided Joshua for years, avoided an unbeaten and still ferocious Whyte, and ducked Usyk like no tomorrow for two years. He never answered the challenge from Zhang, Joyce, Bakole, Sanchez, Ruiz, etc. They all called him out in the last 18 months, and they were all legit contenders. But Fury wanted to get opponents from the bottom of the barrel for a reason. Beating up the Chisoras, Seferis, and Wilders of the world while living like a chav is not really that impressive. It just shows how subpar those guys are. I guarantee you that all top guys could do that.
Fury might turn up for the rematch because the money is too good to turn down. His good wife might convince him to just retire and leave it. But then I would expect him to come back in a couple of years and get a split decision over a Sefer Seferi level journeyman.
