could it be that tyson fury has changed his stance on being british again today by letting klitschko know

welcome to my city, welcome to my town, uk baby!!

now im sure that we can all assume that its to get the people of manchester on his side but what annoys me is when fighters in general not just tyson trump up with im really irish or start with all the jesus talk when they think they will be fighting in america and hope that it gets them fans over there but then change their stance when fighting in uk again!

what is it tyson? you british, irish or just gypsy?

Tyson's mood dictates whether he is British, Irish, gypsy, sometimes when he feels tough he becomes a gypsy warrior, when he claims to be the best he becomes a gypsy king.

its a mixture of everything, I don't really hold it against Tyson though for one reason

travellers are not generally accepted in Ireland or England. There both looked down on and treated with contempt in both countries. UK want to claim him now because he could achieve something special, but ask the average person in the UK what they think of irish travellers and you will get a very negative response. They are also discriminated against in Ireland too

The bottom line is fury is both irish and british , he has always called himself irish ever since he was an amateur and since the start his also called himself british, he didn't just decide to do it one day when he went to America

also this idea that fighters suddenly decide to become irish to gain support is nonsense. Top irish amatuers have one of the lowest turn over rates to the pros in the world id say , most decide to stay amateur. If it was as simple to be a pro and be irish to make loads of money wouldn't you think all irish amaters would be going pro?

    British is a legal term.

Irish is an actual ethnicity. What's so hard to comprehend?

Joshua, Chisora, Abdul Hamza are all as British as Fury too.

ya his ethnicity is irish traveller which is kind of a give away

the term british now is so vague, chisora british dispite being 100% African and only coming to britian when he was 16

the difference between being a refugee and british is razor thin

    He is British, he's ****ing stupid, he's a ****.

Nobody in Britain likes him, hence why he couldn't sell out the MEN with Chisora?

    End of story.

Why would the guy even claim to be British when he gets nothing but stick for being a Gypsy. The country does nothing but hound Gypsies. Why would he want to a part of that?

I hope he does win and then he can stick two fingers up at the country. Good luck to him.

It's like Lennox Lewis: he was Jamaican and Canadian ... until he became a champion and then the UK decided to claim him.

Meanwhile, he spent most of his career living in the U.S. and lives, last I heard, in Miami.

    But the Brits claim him.

Born in "Britain" went to school in "Britain".

Anyone who has lived here legally for more than 5 years can apply for "British" citizenship.

Let's not get started on Americans..

In all the decades I have watched boxing I must be in the minority of not really giving a toss where a fighter is from or claims to be from.

Most that have been born in a country and moved somewhere else may or may not of continued to represent their country of birth.

Pro fighters are that fight for money and maybe under a flag that suits them.Modern case for the younger element on here Kostya Tszyu as an example.
