Tyson Fury is like Luis Ortiz but 6ft8 and better stamina

Fury is 6'7" at the most, which is only an inch taller than Wilder. Also, Fury isn't a southpaw with over 300+ amateur matches and even when he fought Wladimir didn't have Ortiz's timing. Fury at his best is more mobile and younger, but its anybody's guess if Davison can even get Fury in tip top fighting shape.

Also, Wilder isn't one dimensional and lazy like Gassiev is. Wilder knows how to feint and adjust during a fight while Gassiev has shown in many of his fights that he's unwilling to switch tactics mid-fight. When Stiverne took away Wilder's right hand Wilder adjusted and focused on winning a decision. When Ortiz took away Wilder's jab Wilder relied on feints and landing the straight right, which was very effective and once Ortiz was softened up enough he started using the right cross, which took away Ortiz's straight lefts and allowed Wilder to end the fight. Gassiev in the Lebdev fight was clueless once Lebdev started using angles and mobility and coasted to a split decision. His lack of adaptability also showed up again in the Usyk fight. Gassiev was unwilling to risk trying something different even though he was easily getting outpointed. Gassiev went into survival mode and was content with going the distance.

 

Howd he look? I missed the fight.. Do you all give him a chance against Wilder?

 

How are they at all similar? Other than just the basic fact that they're both boxers rather than brawlers. I mean if that's all it takes to draw comparisons...

 

Kong's got more chin. If Wilder can touch Fury it'll take less to put him down.

 

Well actually, I'm not sure if you got the memo but Wilder is a knockout artist, he can knock any man on the planet out with each hand from any angle.

Even Evander Holyfield attessted to Wilders knockout power, and he's a guy that knows a thing or two since he fought Mike Tyson and George Foreman. David Haye too, and he's sparred MANY current heavyweights

Knock a man out by hitting him on the forehead, the part where the hairline meets the forehead is the strongest part of the head, and that is how you headbutt someone. WILDER hit a fighter there and knocked him out.

So yeah it's a case of how soon Tyson get's knocked out, ... and not not the case of going to points, decisions and judge's scoring.

Wilder might look, walk, and talk like an NBA player. But after 40 fights in the ring, a bronze at the Olympics and a WBC belt .. HE'S A REAL DEAL HEAVYWEIGHT BOXER!

 

The Fury fans are grasping at straws, Fury ain't no bum and he would beat everyone not named Wilder or Joshua
but how anyone can come to the conclusion that this fight is a bad style matchup for Wilder is beyond me, they
don't know the first thing about boxing and have never watched any of his fights or any of Wilders fights.

Wilders worst style matchup is a fighter like Ortiz, a counterpuncher with exceptional timing and punching power
who can catch him when he is off balance like Ortiz did a couple of times when they fought eachother, a passive featherfisted outside boxer like Tyson Fury is a lot easier for him to handle.

 

P ianeta is so slow at one point he threw a shot, I went outside and mowed my lawn, had a beer, took a shower, took the wife to dinner and a movie, came back and watched it land.

 

Horrible comparison. Ortiz is one of Wilder's worst matchups, for the reasons mentioned by others on this thread. Fury might be sufficiently negative to win some rounds, but sooner or later he's going to sleep.

 

Ortiz, in no parallel universe, goes 10 with Pianeta.

It's actually hilarious and comparable to Flat Earth Theory. I am mystified and bemused with disbelief that in various top ten rankings from posters you see statement like " Obviously FURY number 1 the true lineal champ, our saviour, the real champion"

It just hurts my brain, even after the pianeta fight I'm seing these comments.

He's better than the Seferi fight. He's got some mobility back and he's looking like his upper body movement is starting to come right. His hands are fairly quick. His weight is melting away. That's the good news.

The bad news is that Pianeta is more washed up than the Titanic and that he was landing shots on Fury. Fury's punches had absolutely no steam whatsoever on them. He's basically going into a gunfight with a .22 derringer and Wilder's coming in with a 357 magnum. He's got nothing to deter Wilder with. Wilder is twice as fast and explosive as the ghost of Pianeta.

I detest Wilder but credit where its due: he comes to fight ripped and 100% ready to go.

Fury is doomed.

 

Excellent summary. Fury needs at least 1 more fight, probably 2. And he needs Peter back. Badly. I can't stand Windmill either but right now I'm thinking of putting money on him

 

Fury in his current shape still outboxes Wilder.
