To further add to this response, i'm not even hating on fury, I rate fury HIGHLY, The on form fury who fought wlad imo beats everybody. i actually somewhat agree with OP it would be an amazing feat but that is because i also rate wilder, somebody OP likes to brand a bum 99% of the time but now fury is claiming the fights close suddenly wilder is great?. Wilder isn't the most technically sound but hes the most athletic and as fury says himself the most dangerous HW out there. Give people credit when its due not when it suits your own agenda.

 

Yes, if Fury fights Wilder straight after Pianeta and beats him that IS greater than Ali's performance off his layoff.

People seem to be forgetting that.

Ali's title winning fight with Foreman was epic but it was years of activity later, 4 years after he first launched the comeback and with a dozen or more fights under his belt since his layoff.

If Fury fights and wins against Wilder in December that is greater.

Fury haters expose how highly they rate him by even discrediting the feat before it happens.
I'm a fan and I struggle to consider it possible.

He will but I’ve already stated responsibility falls on you when you call out said fighter and sign a contract. People like you always try to live in this have your cake and eat it too scenario excluding responsibility of the guy you’re a fanboy of. This is why I love Floyd. He comes off a long layoff and shows the consensus number 2 p4p fighter in the world there’s levels. It was a mismatch from the beginning and nobody was giving Floyd pre-excuses. We know who the truth is and who is not in boxing. You can tell by the standards fans hold their fighters to.

 

Floyd put on a boxing master class against JMM coming of a 2 year lay off, Sure JMM moved up in weight but weight was not a factor in that fight, floyd was never a puncher at 147, the fight was won on pure skill.

 

There will ALWAYS be excuses, it is inevitable like human stupidity.

 

Hahahaha you think if Fury fought Wilder 6 weeks from now, Fury would win? Come on man, get of the cocaine. Fury went 4 unremarkable rounds with a 6 foot nobody.

 

It's not greater at all! Fury is nowhere near as good as any of those guys, so stop trying to make him out to be some amazing fighter. Would it be impressive, yeah but, trying to say it's more significant than other similar situations that other fighters have done just because Fury was eating, drinking and abusing drugs excessively is a joke. As far as his mental health is concerned....I'm not buying it, dude is a normal dude acting stupid to make money in the sport of boxing, nothing more, nothing less.

 

It's interesting how people here are denying that Fury coming back so quick to win wouldn't be so great, and that the fact of him being 130 pounds overweight for months is irrelevant.
Because 18 months ago when he was waddling around at 380 pounds people were saying:
"he's done"
"there's no way he can ever come back from this"
"forget about him"
"no chance"
"he's ruined himself"

That's what they were saying when they saw the pics.
But now apparently coming back from that awful woeful condition is irrelevant to the magnitude of the feat ?

 

Obviously coming back from being in terrible condition IS more impressive than coming back from being in condition, it's more impressive for the reason that it's far more unusual.
It's not advisable and it's not likely.
