yeah this happened last year in castlebar, county mayo has anyone ever heard this before, i was told in confidence last night in training, supposedly perez didnt continue sparring i know sparring means **** all but perez is no slouch, Fury is well liked in ireland by members of the travelling community and they all seem to have their own little story on him
Ur right southpaw sparring means **** all, I've heard of and actually seen a few very good fighters go over in sparring. It actually happens a lot more reguarlly then I thought but has more to do with circumstance of training then anything else. Perez is barely 6 foot, Tyson 7 inches taller.... He's always going to have problems closing that distance- perez would be fave to beat him in true comp IMO
I can not wait till Perez or any of the other Cubans step up and face a decent opponent. Perez has not impressed so far as a pro.
Against that level opponent he looked ok but he shows no real improvement. A step up in class may bring more out of him. He seems totally disinterested at times. For all the hype he gets he needs to be moved on.
Just asked Gary Hyde about this, and to quote the indignant man himself: "He did in his high hole!" They sparred together, had a couple of good sessions, and Hyde said he and Perez respect Fury and have a lot of time for him 'cos he's a nice fella and a good pro. But a KO in sparring? Never, ever happened. I even threw in the "Off the record, Gary, did it happen?" And was met with the same answer. Absolutely no way, he said. He doesn't know how this rumour started. I believe him, for what its worth. He's told me an awful lot of stuff in confidence in the past and he has never mentioned it. A good, forthcoming guy, is Gary, not a loudmouth bull**** artist like a lot of others in the promotion game.
Sounds like a loada shite to me. I dont think ive ever heard a fighter who has done so little as Fury talk so much or so big. Did he not claim to have knocked down David Price in the amateurs (in a fight where by all accounts he took a pasting), which was then disputed by folk who were there ?
:good Fury mouth is as big as head he will be telling us next he killed King Kong. Plus alot of travellers are liars
to be honest, your more likley to hear **** coming out of Furys or his team. i heard the fury actually got schooled by perez
i was told by a guy who fights out of drimnagh boxing club with over 100 amateur fights that this is what happened, he was present and witnessed it back to my original post, when i said i was told in confidence i meant that the guy who told me is no bullshitter and wouldnt lie, not that he told me to keep it quiet, i misunderstood the whole meaning of that phrase there sorry (my english verbal is terrible) did not seem like bull**** to me i am usually a good teller when someone is lying especially someone i have been training around for 3 months, he was also telling two guys with me who are two well respected coaches in their own right and coundnt see him bullshitting to those just to hype up old tyson fury
hadnt heard that but i did hear the first time they sparred fury did very well against mike (who was a stone over weight) i also heard the second time when they sparred big mike was hardly hit by Fury....
Sorry Southpaw, I wasn't having a pop at you - you're someone whose posts I respect - I'm sorry if I gave that impression. When I was referring to bull**** artists, I meant promotors like Don King and the like who would big up a smelly fart as the next big thing to create hype. It is an interesting story, I'll press Gary Hyde a bit more on it. He genuinely was surprised and bemused by it though - if he's telling porkies, then he's got a damn good poker face. I've known him for quite a while and he has never lied to me - even when he has to give the three Cubans a kick up the hole for slacking in training or eyeing up skirt, he'll tell me, even though I'm a journalist. He's an open, no-nonsense, kind of guy whose candour is a breath of fresh air in this trade.
