Fury expects to have a rematch with Ukraine's Usyk regardless of the outcome of their first fight, before facing former world heavyweight champion Joshua in one or two bouts and then Francis Ngannou, whom he beat in October. "I keep hearing talk of people saying I should retire or I'm going to retire soon or whatever," Fury said on his Instagram feed on Wednesday, showing stitches above his eye. "I ain't retiring — I've got two fights with Usyk for the undisputed, twice." Fury, yet to face Joshua, added: "Then I'm going to fight AJ (Joshua) at least once, maybe twice, if there's a rematch — if he wants one after the first battering I give him. "Then I'm going to fight Ngannou again. "That's just the start. There's five fights for you to whet your appetite. I ain't going nowhere. I'm 35 years old and in the prime of my life." What a way to keep and continue to lie to loyal fans, announcing big fights and so far he has only fought Ngannou and that will remain so.
... in other words ... he's going to postpone the May Usyk fight, retire ... come out of retirement for a professional wrestling match.
I think if he continues winning he'll do it. Why wouldn't he? What else is he going to do? People keep claiming he's scared but he's fought Wilder three times, offered the fight to AJ already and is almost certainly going to fight Usyk. Now if he loses, it might change things, but you never know.
Fury will do a Billie Joe when he loses to Usyk. Not only will he not fight Usyk in a rematch if he loses the first fight and it’s very likely he does. But we won’t ever see him in the ring again when he loses. His 0 means so much to him, that it will destroy his motivation to fight again when he loses it.
The five-fight plan: 1. Oleksandr Usyk - Result: Postponed due to illness. 2. Derek Chisora IV - Result: TKO win. 3. Anthony Joshua - Result: Sudden retirement before the fight. 4. Francis Ngannou II - Result: UD. 5. Oleksandr Usyk - Result: Postponed due to illness.
It's unfortunate that people and media still hang on every word a man with admitted mental health issues says. The media take every bait they can, and there's probably plenty in Fury's camp, who are quite alright with him racking up the clickbait. You can see where he's at by just looking at him sometimes, before he even speaks. Like us all, he is human and fallible of course. But more than most fighters, even most athletes, his frame of mind before each camp and fight, has been extremely different each time. Whether that is down to his own mental well-being, or the environment changing around him.
November 2022 (Sky Sports) - Tyson Fury has claimed he will fight one person a month next year; but called a bout with WBA, IBF, WBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk 'unlikely'
I'd like to believe it. As those are interesting fights. But I can't. Aside from the fact Fury has proven many times over the years he can't be trusted, I also think he's in steady decline. Id be amazed if even two of those five fights happen.
