Tyson Fury = Leon Spinks

Not a bad comparison. Fury is a trash fighter and won a dull decision in one of the worst HW title fights in history. After Wlad knocks him out in the return fight I don't expect we'll see much more of him. Maybe he'll cash out vs Joshua.

 

Fury is a phenomenal fighter and will win the rematch.

While I agree Wlad was on the decline, Fury is still great.

I would favor him over Joshua (who I don't believe is even good), Wilder, Haye, Ortiz, and everyone else.

Long term, I have grave concerns about his mental discipline and willpower. But he should be good for a while longer.

Fury is not trash. His advantages are his size and his awkward switch-up boxing style. His power is underrated, and his chin seems to have improved a bit, which, contrary to boxing lore, is fairly common when a heavyweight physically matures, especially a very big one.


His disadvantages are that he can be led into brawls, and that he is unmotivated.

Let's be blunt, there are damned few out there who are going to beat him

Wlad- we know he can beat Wlad

Joshua-his camp has twice admitted that he is not ready. Will he one day be ready, or is he another Wilder?

Wilder- the real trash. Can't even easily beat Molina, Duhaupas or Szpilka

Povetkin- Maybe too small and aging fast

Haye- Has already faked two injuries to get out of fighting Fury

Martin- lol

Pulev- not as good as when Wladdy beat him, never mind Wlad's conqueror

Ortiz- dangerous fight for Fury, but Ortiz is already old and going nowhere after the Ustinov cancellation. It is not like Fury is going to seek him out, so we can probably disregard this fight as a possibility

So tell me, who are all of these guys who are going to beat Fury? On the list I would say Joshua has a chance after a few years, and Ortiz if he gets him in the ring soon, which is not going to happen. And neither is a gaurantee.

The answer is that he only beats himself. A motivated fury can reign a long time.

 

if wlad loses the rematch, fury loses to the first top flight guy he faces afterwards. loses badly.

 

name one victory fury has that can be rated top flight. he's a cherry picking ducker. for a darn good reason, he isn't very good.

 

Fury isn't great ... but he is a lot better than most, including me, thought that he was. I think that if he can stay motivated, he could be around for a long time.

Ducker? After facing Wlad? Wlad? Who was, at the time of Fury fighting him, a top p4p who reigned as champion for over a decade without being defeating, and rarely even lost more than a round or two?

wlad looked like **** his previous fight. fury either figured he was shot or was looking to cash out. every other aspect of his career shows a guy who avoids any challenge like the bubonic plague.

 

Uh, Wlad Klitschko, a man with 23 career title defenses, and wins agianst Povetkin, Haye, and Pulev, who are three top ten guys to this day.

his victory against klitschko is tainted by the fact neither did a damned thing. worst title fight in history.

 

Chisora was was being hyped for a world title match when Fury stepped in to beat him. Chisora was also rated in the top 10 by TBRB when Fury beat him the second time.

Cunningham also appeared on the top 10 list by TBRB a few times.

 

chisora has no decent wins. was completely shot after haye. both gerber and pala had him stumbling around the ring. the ref then saved him with british stoppages both times. cunningham gave him a boxing lesson, until fury laying on him took its toll. cunningham moved up when he became irrelevant at cw. he beat no one at hw, then got beaten moving back down. fury's resume is among the worst in the sport, for a contender. only wilders rivals it as a champ, in its sad lack of quality.
