Good point. Hopefully pride is enough motivation. He did got called out by the young lion. A young lion at the neck of the woods nonetheless.
I think he will answer the call, whether he will be able to reclaim his jungle, I'm not as certain.

If it was just the weight issues he could probably come back and perform like he did but it isn't just the weight. He's been abusing narcotics like cocaine which ruined plenty of 80's heavyweights, he's suffering mental illness which takes a huge physical toll in itself and then there is the fact he probably won't be doping like he was before to get into the shape he was in before. He's got an uphill struggle ahead of him.

I said even before he won the title he would burn out by his 30's but it seems like he may burn out well before then. A shame but we've seen it happen to other fighters. Even his name sake Mike Tyson burned out far sooner than he should have, the pressure of being champion is too heavy for some shoulders.

Yeah, it's a hell of an uphill battle from here.
But I wouldn't write anyone off who did what he did, he already proved most of us wrong at least once before.
He's a fighter I've been following since the beginning of his career and I disparaged his abilities and wrote him off plenty of times so I became a fan when he kept proving me wrong.

Sure balooning up and down in weight is possible when you're really young. But at a certain point it's really really taxing to live as Tyson does and he can have shot himself in the foot, just like Bowe did.

Bowe was finished at 30. Fury doesn't have long to go.

I agree... But before he fights AJ he needs to fight 2 or 3 times... Just to get I to the ring and into the training mode. The fight is 2 years away... Might be an even bigger fight then... AJ will just defend his belts until then... Needs to stay away from wilder until after the fury fight

Roberto Duran was ballooning up in weight in his 30s, up to well over 200 pounds, and still managed good wins in the 154 and 160 brackets.
It's debatable how damaging it is.

I'm not sure Bowe's main problem was the yo-yo weight. It didn't help of course. But he also neglected to hone his craft and work on his defensive skills, that's what finished him off. He had a gruelling trilogy with Holyfield and was taking too many punches in fights, and possibly in the gym too.
I believe it was what he was failing to work on in the gym skill-wise that finished him, not his conditioning. He had a great trainer but wouldn't show up in the gym enough.
The man was slurring his words before he even faced Golota.

It's very unpredictable what will happen with Fury IF he ever gets back in the ring.
For his own sake, he should drop the weight anyway. Whether he fights again or not, and whether he wins again or not.
