Cool. Bottom line is, until Fury resurfaced, the entire industry saw Joshua and Wilder as #1 and #2 of what was left in his absence. That's why everybody wanted to see them get together.

King Kong was certainly one of the better contenders at the time, by the way. Joshua and Hearn could've given him an opportunity when he was at Matchroom, but they didn't. Wilder and PBC did.

 

Wilder ducked a career high payday.....fact.

TBF, both their resumes are lacking in dominant opponents. Neither one has defeated a HOF boxer in his prime.
Joshua has been beaten up badly in three losses, and quit in one of them. Wilder is constantly crapped on in here
by Fury nuthuggers yet they bring his name up as a formidable opponent. You can't have it both ways.

Actually, Joshua's win over Pulev is better than any win Fury has over anyone. Pianeta, Wallin, Schwarz, Seferi, etc is not exactly a Murderer's Row. Should Fury defeat AJ, a former HW champ AND Usyk, a HOFer at CW at least, then he and his followers can brag. Not before IMO.

Regardless of where my general loyalties and affections lie, I say what I see. For instance, I have stated more than once that I will be expressing my dissatisfaction with Fury if hasn't boxed Usyk by some suitable juncture in 2023 (I fully expect the bout to happen next year, however), and I'll have no problem honoring that.

 

Pulev? I'm guessing you got your P's mixed up and meant Sasha, which is still a stretch, but not nearly as much of a stretch as Pulev.

 

Also;

I don't denigrate Wilder. Whatever his flaws are, he's been a dangerous man, a precarious tightrope for other heavies to walk. And he certainly can't be referred to as a 'bum' by anyone who actually understands the historical definition of that term as it applies to boxing. I've criticized some of his behavior in the last couple years, but that's another matter.

 

I've stated many times I'm not a Joshua fanboy. Yes I've defended him because Fury and Wilder fanboys have to put him down constantly.
I'm not a nuthugger of any current fighter because I have a mental age above 12 yrs old....
If I had to pick favorites in the division it would be Usyk. Joyce . Fury and Joshua 4th or 5th. so your factual assertion is completely off base and not based on reality.
