Very big mistake by Tyson, from the sound’s of it Tyson just wants to train the way he wants to train and to be the boss. Peter can light a fire under his arse but Tyson will just coast now.
Fully agree with you about Peter's attitude to Tyson's mental health. I also think he's a bit of a tyrant, not in a nasty way, but in a way which means he can be mentally exhausting to work with. A harsh taskmaster. Whereas Ben Davison is Tyson's friend. That will be refreshing for Tyson, especially when he's trying to fall in love with boxing again. The problem is, sometimes a friend is what a fighter wants but not what he needs. I can see a David Haye + Shane McGuigan situation happening. David slipped into a comfort zone where he was calling the shots. Is Tyson the one who's running his own training, with Davison just helping him? Is the respect towards Davison as a boxing professional there? If not, I think it's not a good arrangement in the long run. Davison's advice to BJS during the Akavov fight was really poor, I felt BJS was nodding but not really listening. With Dom Ingle, you can see he hangs on his every word.
Yeah but hopefully I’m wrong and once he’s closer to the weight and a proper return he will go back to peter.
Is Ben Davison the same guy who was in charge of the corner for Saunders v Wolverine? If so I think we can all say he is absolute shyte.
Couldn't belive it when i heard about this. Peter Fury is a fantastic trainer..all this talk about he doesnt understand Tysons mental health is nonsense, none of us have a clue about there personal business..i thought they made a great team.. Cant fcuking wait to see Tyson Fury back in the ring, the true heavyweight champ..its still team Fury all day
Never questioned his training. He’s clearly quality. I’m going off a couple of interviews where he doesn’t strike me as fully understanding mental illness. To be honest, most of us don’t. Peter wants to crack on and create champions.
Very disappointing - I want to see Fury back in the mix and without Peter / with this new guy it is less likely Dont see why he would leave but if he did you would have thought he would have went to Ingle? If the guy is any good why did BJS leave after one fight? I thought he was just his mate helping him for that fight after he left Tibbs and I have not heard of him training anyone else so dont know what he will be able to add to Tyson. I saw he was training at Hatton's and I think he would have been a better shout! Lets see if the set-up lasts ... hope he links back up with Peter
Tyson always performed well under Peter. On the other hand, I've always thought the family business model was becoming a stifling situation for Tyson. I believe deep down the expectations and interests of his father and uncle contributed to his becoming disillusioned with boxing. When Tyson Fury says " Boxing is a crock of shite, I'm retiring." it is just as much a statement against his male family elders as it I against his "enemies". That's my opinion anyway. Naturally he wants to be his own man. But I don't think Tyson Fury's current training is anything more than a celebrity fat camp , if that. Let's see what he does when he actually becomes a professional boxer again. At the moment he's just a social media personality doing some weight loss workouts. He doesn't need a boxing trainer for this. Then again, there are very few real boxing trainers around these days. It seems the business is full of glorified aerobics teachers and boxercise cheerleaders.
He won't fight again. He's still mentally ill. You can see it clearly in his interviews. He's a genuine suicide risk.
