Clearly he quit. That being said only he knows how bad it was. If he had fought on He very well could have got the decision, or he could have gotten permanent damage done to his eye shortening his career. He chose to lose the battle we'll see if he can comeback to win the war.

He had nine rounds to work out how to avoid that jab. It's not like that damage was caused by a couple of hard blows, it was countless jabs in a fight where Dubois played the dartboard to Joyce's darts. His issue is not only heart, it's skill too..

Dubious now knows what happens when someone stands up to his power

Nobody should ever become hypnotized by their punching power, you will end up like Wilder getting slapped around by someone who isn't regarded for their power.

A simple jab can break you down

(I posted this elsewhere, as I'll post it again here ....)

The fight was for the BRITISH, EUROPEAN (vacant) and COMMONWEALTH TITLES.

Same as when Lennox Lewis fought Gary Mason in 1991.
People (of a certain age) will remember that Gary Mason had actually undergone eye surgery the previous year for detached retina and had briefly 'retired' before changing heart and coming back.
People will also remember that Lewis spoke openly about how he was going to target Mason's eyes in the pre-fight build up, and he did so.

And Mason put up a terrific effort. And he ended the fight (referee's stoppage) fighting back with TWO badly damaged eyes.

So, when people wonder why Dubois' quitting is being criticized, remember the standard that has been set by British champions of the past.

Gary Mason backed into the corner and retired himself.

Ebanks Jr received a lot of backlash a few years ago when he claimed his corner didn't own towels. Nobody begrudged Brook for quitting due to a debilitating career shortening eye injury.
There's nothing wrong with packing it in over cranial / eye/ brain injury.

People said the same thing about Vitali when he lost to Byrd. Only he knows how hurt he was, we can only speculate. I'm a bit more concerned that he wasnt able to outbox Joe Joyce, I thought his ceiling was much higher. Still theres no reason why he cant have a good career.

The irony of Nandrolone Fury, who has only faced 2 guys in the current top 30, talking about another boxer having heart hahahahahahahahahaha. You can't make this up

even guy from CW top 200 is capable to inflict such cut on HW size guy. IF landed like Wallin did.
This of course doesn't mean that it is everything needed to win fight.

You think to cut soft tissue if landed needs to have a tittle belt or place in top 10 rankings?

That was the first time seeing Dubious. One look at him I knew he is not cut from a different cloth. He looks soft. Being bred in Uk with first world comfort perhaps made him that way? Look boxing is a poor mans sport. Most savages come from poor hopeless places with no choice but to fight your life depends on it.

I don't like criticizing guys for eye injuries. Anybody who has ever got hit in the eye wrong knows there is that moment of pure panic that goes thru you. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

Yup Fury has fought an old man and a basketballer but is greater than Ali and Louis.

Now his word is infallible because he got up after grazing blow from basketballer.

If PEDS cheat Fury had heart, he would have actually fought at least 3 or 4 of the top heavyweights today instead of Wallin, Schwarz, Sefari, and the rest. Do you get it now??????
