Prior to the rematch I read a lot of hedging of bets re Fury.

Many said Fury was shot BUT if he could come back and beat Usyk - how great would that be?

If Fury had beaten a Usyk that hadn’t deteriorated himself, it would’ve absolutely belied the claim that Fury was shot. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

And, just as it was prior to the first fight, many felt that they perceived a Fury who had it all together THIS TIME for the rematch, the mental focus, the necessary aggression etc. -

Yes this time it was going to be different - with the tag that Fury always did so much better in rematches also.

He was too “light” before - though many were excited at his relatively svelte 262 lbs for the first fight - the catch cry was that a fit Fury beats Usyk and there he was, a fit Fury who still was clearly beaten.

But, when the smoke cleared after the rematch, STILL the excuses come. Now Tyson was too heavy, yada yada, so on and so forth.

So yeah, in some instances but not all, I’ve read a discrediting of Fury ONLY after the fact of losing to Usyk - or at least pundits having “each way” bets going into each fight.

Now proof perhaps of some pundits discrediting Fury only for the sake of discrediting Usyk (fully or partially)is that: -

Between fights 1 and 2, before the factual result of fight 2 was known, support from certain fans began to swell again for Fury and a potential victory -

Support from those very same pundits who said Fury was shot and implied that they had written him off after fight 1 - but clearly, they hadn’t really written Tyson off - only doing so in superficial terms, directly on the heels of Usyk’s first victory over The Gypsy King.

I think another strange concept is (similar to what the mma fighter who pulled out of the Tommy fury fight said) the fury’s and their fans have a bullying nature behind them.
Any criticism and they just can’t have it.
They either get aggressive, or passively aggressive and play victim cards, but they refuse anything negative to be said about the man Tyson.
He gets some of the most blatant favouritism in the sport, yet they still claim he is a victim and can’t get results. They claim he fights on the road, but in all his fights he’s treated as the home fighter.

He and his fans (including myself) supported him over AJ when they were coming up, we felt AJ had the backing of everyone and fury was from the “have-nots”. But truth is fury sold out and became the guy he hated in AJ!

Now he has lost, hopefully his fans can calm down and accept just a slight bit of criticism.
