For real. He can't be any worse off mentally than Oliver McCall in the second Lewis fight. Fury probably feels that he has enough money to retire on and simply has lost interest in boxing.
I've been ripping Fury since the news of the postponement first appeared but if it is genuinely down to mental problems, I take it all back. He's never seemed a particularly stable character.
I have a feeling it's the same medical specialist who found Pacquiao's torn rotator cuff when the only clear symptoms were butt hurt. You can pay a doctor to fabricate anything these days. It's clear he doesn't want a rematch.
He allowed himself to get too mentally comfortable after defeating Wlad (one of the very biggest accomplishments of this era). He doesn't have the motivation and hunger to do that again, that much is clear. ...This is actually a warfare strategy on his part, too. Wlad is old and is going through yet another training camp, Fury wants Wlad to be demotivated and age overnight, by this stage. It also serves as revenge for Wlad ridiculously claiming he threw the fight that they had. Fury would be motivated for any other boxer, just not a Wlad rematch because he feels he already won the lineal championship against him.
I'm not going to say anymore on this till we get the full story. If it does indeed emerge that he's pulled out for mental health reasons, I wish him all the best in his recovery. Internet forums aren't exactly renowned as bastions of human decency but I'm appalled by some of the insensitive responses to this. It's just a sport, for f***'s sake. Mental illness is serious.
We don't even know if it is his mental illness though do we. If it was down to mental illness and we knew it, the response would likely be different from many but that's not what has happened all we have is some vague excuse for the fight being cancelled again.
That's pretty much what I said, isn't it? We shouldn't give him a pass unless we know that it is actually down to mental illness. Look at some of the above responses though, belittling mental illness and basically dismissing it as 'having no balls'. That's what I was criticising.
