Tyson Fury says his fight Saturday night with Tom Schwarz could be for the WBO Belt.

Apparently, the WBO hasn't decided if it is going to allow Andy Ruiz to rematch Anthony Joshua. They will decide after the fight. (Meaning Bob "I Paid off the IBF to get Axel Shulz a title shot" Arum has agreed to pay them if Fury wins.)

If Ruiz decides to rematch with Joshua, the WBO could strip him and retroactively name Fury the new WBO champ.

I hate Bob Arum. But there is a bit of "revenge" here if Fury wins a vacant WBO belt he never lost in the ring that was originally stripped from him.

Meaning Wilder-Fury II could be for the WBC and WBO belts?

What? That's even more ridiculous as Saunders "fighting" Usify for that vacant WBO strap!
Is Golovkin vs Rolls retroactively for a WBO belt too?

They’re not gonna do that. If anything was gonna happen then they’d make it for the interim title because nothing official has been announced with Ruiz - Joshua yet.

People should actually read the governing bodies rules. In short, it's up to the committee.

Schwarz and Fury are number 2 and 3 respectively. Dillian Whyte is number 1 and Rivas is number 4. The eventual winner must then face the winner of Whyte v Rivas within 180 days of victory. The WBO are within their right to strip Ruiz as the result was not ambiguous but decisive. From the WBO regulations:

    SECTION 18. RETURN FIGHTS
The WBO shall not allow direct return fights, unless recommended by the World Championship Committee and authorized by the Executive Committee. A direct return fight is a fight between the new Champion and the former Champion from whom the new Champion won the title (or between a new Champion and the losing Contestant in a Vacant Title Fight), before the new Champion defends his title against any of the other fighters classified in his category. If the World Championship Committee determines either that the resolution of a Championship Contest was substantially irregular, or that there was a clear misapplication of the rules of boxing resulting in a manifest unfairness, such that in either case the World Championship Committee determines that the Championship was substantially unresolved, the World Championship Committee may, in its discretion, recommend a direct return fight, which may be authorized only by the majority vote of the Executive Committee. The World Championship Committee may recommend a direct return fight for any other circumstance; in that event a direct return fight shall only be authorized by the affirmative vote of not less than 75% of the Executive Committee.

SECTION 20. PROCEDURE WHEN A TITLE IS DECLARED VACANT
A World Championship may be lost for breach of contract, for disability to fight or to make the required weight, inactivity, or for any other reason established in the Regulations that govern World Championships, but a World Championship shall only be obtained as the result of a bout or bouts duly authorized by the World Championship Committee. In the case that a World Championship is declared vacant, The Committee shall determine if the Vacancy should be filled by a contest between the two Best Classified Contenders Available, or a box off among the four Best Classified Contenders Available. In either event, the contestants as determined by the Championship Committee shall be granted a period not to exceed thirty (30) days to negotiate a contract for the vacant World Championship or an Interim World Championship, as the case may be with a duly qualified promoter. The WBO President may, upon the request from either contestant in a championship or any of the contestants in a box off for which a purse bid has been ordered, order a purse bid to be held within ten (10) days from the date of the request. In the event that the contestants fail to negotiate the contract within the 30 day period, the President may also order a Purse Bid for that Vacant or Interim Championship, pursuant to the procedure established in these Regulations.
When a boxer obtains the World Championship title or an Interim World Championship title. Or after a box off in any category in a fight for a vacant title, he shall defend the title against the Mandatory Challenger within a term which shall not exceed one hundred eighty (180) days counting from the date he acquired the title.

that title will look great next to his lineal title, and they will both be just as worthless in determining who the best hw really is.

And, if Schwarz wins, forget all of that. (LOL)

Bob Arum is the payoff king.

WBO is closely linked to Arum and Warren, this is no surprise at all

I do agree with this and I was suspicious when the IBF stripped Fury but it is within their powers to do that. No doubt the committee can be swayed by one of Uncle Bob's care packages.

Kathi Duva was responsible for that. No heavyweight champion should've been stripped because he didn't fight Czar Glazkov fast enough.

I hope Tom Schwarz is more Axel Shulz than Glazkov.

Remember when Warren and Fury fans said Fury was still champ as never beaten in the ring.

If this happens I look forward to them all still calling Ruiz the WBO champ.
