I genuinely think Fury has gone medically insane. These levels of erratic behaviour is not simply the result of drug abuse or whatever. One day it is retirement, then it is an Usyk fight, then it is a Joshua fight, then it is a fight in Australia against a virtually unknown local southpaw, then an Opetaia bout is “all but sealed”.

When Bob Arum said even Fury didn’t know what hat he wanted was not just a dig at the ogre because they have a beef. Now it seems Arum just said what he said because that’s how Fury really is - all over the place.

    Absurd.

I had high hopes for Fury when he beat Wilder in fight #2. I really thought he could have a 3-4 year period which he could dominate. The way Lewis dominated from 1999-2002. But alas he is throwing it away.

Wouldn't surprise me if Fury is using this as a litmus test to see how his shot body stands against Usyk

I also wouldn't be surprised if this turns into Wallin 2.0 and he looks awful lol

But at the same time I doubt it will happen as Fury is Fury. Don't care until he's in the ring

Tyson Fury wants to be mentioned all over the world without fighting, his Ego is so big that he can't stand not to be mentioned and connected with some fighters who show interest, and as soon as Fury gets closer to the moment when he needs to sign the contract, he withdraws with various pronunciation...

Tyson "The Limbo Dancer" Fury continues to lower that bar.

So he's considering fighting the current southpaw Ring Cruiserweight Champion before he fights the last southpaw Ring Cruiserweight Champion.

Opetaia has weighed as much as 217 for a fight. Opetaia has more fights than Usyk. Opetaia beat Mauris Briedis, Usyk's best cruiserweight opponent. And he's nearly 10 years younger than Usyk.

I'm scratching my head wondering why this is insane?

He could've picked Badou Jack, after all. He's the WBC Cruiserweight Champ.

He is preparing for an Usyk showdown in the winter. All the people accusing Fury of ducking will look stupid.

Hell, Opetaia may end up doing better than Usyk, for all we know. Fury doesn't like Usyk. He might take it easy on Jai for a few rounds.

I think this just bothers people who have been talking up the cruiserweight division for years. They've all been insisting a heavyweight champ taking on a Ring Cruiserweight champ was something special.

I'll tune in to watch. I like Jai. His fight with Briedis was great.

I doubt Opetaia losing to Fury downgrades the old CW division. Most people believe Fury cannot be beaten by anyone except Usyk.

Let me repeat then: one day it is retirement, then it is an Usyk fight, then it is a Joshua fight, then it is a fight in Australia against a virtually unknown local southpaw, the it’s Parker getting a title shot, then an Opetaia bout is “all but sealed”.

The guy is all over the place, he doesn’t even know what he is doing or saying at this point. The word erratic doesn’t even start to describe the mess that is Fury now.

Arum said earlier today: “I guess he’s serious when he says them, but then tomorrow he’s not so serious.”

It’s not the idea of him fighting Opetaia that’s insane. It’s that even his own team don’t know what is going on inside that ugly bald head. You can easily tell both Arum and Warren are fed up with the ogre as a result.

You tell me, as his fan: what is it then? No fight until 2023? He said recently that the Saudi tournament was bull. No fight until December? He said recently he would fight Usyk in December but no fight until then. An Usyk fight in the summer? He addressed Usyk to fight in the coming months. A McKean fight? He said he wanted it. A Parker fight? He said if Parker beat Opelu, he’d fight that personal cheerleader of his. Or is it Opeatia? Apparently, it’s almost a done deal.

I refuse to believe that his fans don’t care about these things or are entertained by them. You have to be a total nutcase yourself not to be frustrated by the guy if you support him. Or maybe you support him exactly because you are a total nutcase, who knows.

I think this could actually be a decent fight. He's only a bit shorter than Usyk and his reach is only an inch or two different, plus he's a southpaw like him and just emerged the victor in a hard fight against the guy who arguably gave Usyk his hardest challenge. It is sullied by a few things though. I'm not crazy about the fact that Opetaia would be fighting for the first time in a new division against one of the best guys in it, coming off not just over a year of inactivity but also a nasty injury. Still, it might not be bad, if it happens.

Thing is, I doubt it'll happen. Fury says stuff like this all the time, and I think he means it every time, he just changes his mind on a whim. I'm sure this time next week he'll have called out someone else, maybe Huni or Browne if he's still on his down under kick.

Course if I'm wrong and this ends up being the one to happen, at least Opetaia would come to win. That's why I was okay with the prospect of him fighting McKean or even Charr. Do I give them much of a chance? Hell no, then again no one gave Buster Douglas much of a chance either. I personally doubt either of them could replicate his success, but we know they'd at least come with those intentions. That's really all I'm asking at this point. Get Fury in the ring with somebody who wants to actually win, even if they're well below him in skill, and I'll be happy; that goes for all the other inactive boxers too.
