Tyson Fury the most gifted boxer to ever put on a pair of gloves?

I think that is a bit of stretch to say most gifted.

He certainly is blessed with the perfect dimensions to be a great boxing - height, range, speed, movement, high level ring IQ. but there are weaknesses. Notably coordination,power, balance and concentration.

This. He didn't stay around long enough so saying he is the most gifted is a huge stretch. But, when Fury shows up in great shape he has the potential to be a very hard man to beat at the top level.

 

Fury's gifts are size decent speed relativeto that size. That's about it. He can't punch properly (zero technique), his chin is pretty bad and his balance is shocking. He'd fought no one until Wlad then somehow took him out of his game pre fight and made him tentative to engage. I think he knew he won the lottery that night hence the self destruction and no chance of a rematch.

 

One night he fought his heart out. Of course in any major title fight there will be a high level of concentration considering the stakes.

In his other fights he is known for switching off.

Lack of power is another weakness I forgot to mention.

I can think of at least 5 fighters who are more gifted: Roy Jones Jr, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Sugar Ray Robinson, Wilfred Benitez, and Sugar Ray Leonard.

He's not even the most gifted fighter of this era. Lomachenko, Ward and Crawford are more gifted.

Not the most gifted ever.
But he's a much better boxer than I first gave him credit for.
I started watching him from the very beginning, back in 2009 and I really wasn't impressed. I noted some improvements around 2011/2012, he became a much smarter boxer and far less reckless generally, but even up until the Wladimir fight I wasn't much of a believer, based on his opposition.

In hindsight, the second Chisora fight is a brilliant performance.
Another one to consider is the Hammer fight. Fury treated Hammer like a total joke throughout that, absolutely toyed with him, and no one really rates Christian Hammer anyway, do they ? But, fact is, Hammer has won all his fights since 2011 except the Fury one, and has since gone on to beat Erkan Teper and David Price.
Hammer on paper is a respectable fringe contender type opponent.
