That's not unhinged. That's prioritisng winning over getting paid.
If he had said "I don't think I'll win, I'm not motivated, but I'll turn up and get paid" ... he would have been rightly criticized.

Most fighters take the approach of turning up and claiming the money thats the norm.

Thats because boxing is all about money. Its all about earning as much as possible whilst you still can, and retiring.

Tyson Fury did not have have enough to retire on. That is why he has returned. Unhinged.

He could have just turned up and been retired for life by now.

 

More likely, in the back of his mind, he always planned to return.

Successful boxers walking away from huge paydays only to return a couple of years later is not uncommon.

As we have seen, Tyson Fury doesn't exactly know what to do with himself in his "retired" mode.
