Browne said on Twitter, “Wake up this morning to the awesome news that Tyson Fury is possibly looking at myself as the number one candidate for a fight in December. The Fury and Wilder fight is no longer happening and he wants some kind of warm-up fight for the Joshua fight. “Now, if that is me, I’d be more than willing to jump in, it would be an absolute honor to jump in the ring with the Gypsy King, who I believe is one of the best heavyweights on the planet at the moment.” In saying that, wouldn’t it be awesome for me to knock him out and have all these fans hate me at the same time. That’s something I’d love to happen. “As I said, it would be an absolute honor to share the ring with him, I would be going in there to knock him out, that would be the plan. “I could be losing 11 rounds and still knock you out with one punch in the 12th and that’s why I am always going to be dangerous no matter what.” >>>This would suck, and tell you Fury is not serious about picking a reasonable opponent
Sadly I can see this fight happening. Fury is bum feeding, I don't even think Browne is ranked in the top 50! So I checked Box Rec has him at #53. Browne was stoped by a 16-4 fighter not so long ago. Come on Fury, if you give us another Schwartz level opponent, the fans are going to winer how much glass you are packing and what type of shape you are in.
If that fight was made for the title i 100% would not be interested in even knowing the result, let alone watching the bout. Likewise i would imagine the purse Fury got would be relative pittance, as it would be a meaningless fight of interest only to Australian fight fans, and maybe not even them.
Here's the problem, there are a good amount of UK fans that would pay to see Fury fight whomever, as such he has the financial luxury of acting like a clown, showing up out of shape, and collecting a big pay day. It is what it is. I'd rather see Fury re-match Wallin, over a fight with Browne.
Titles certainly wouldn't be on the line. Fight Rivas, Kabayel, even Takam. This fight would be pointless.
Oh fools and their money are indeed soon parted see the mega bucks Mayweather a multi champion pro and Macgregor a amateur boxer made, so yes lot folk will pay. However Browne got beat by 2 British fighters on British soil in 2018 and 2019, so would be a hard sell to make big PPV money from UK, and he has never fought in USA so not known there. I am not saying the Browne bout won't happen but yes i think Wallin would be a much more sellable fight, a bit of publicity machine work emphasising Wallin cutting Fury, unlucky to lose, Fury lucky ref not stop fight on cuts etc etc.
Sounds like Wilder infected Fury with bumalitis. We could be looking at Arreola's next title fight at this rate.
You can't criticise Fury based on the idea he might fight Browne according to Browne, only if he actually does. Years ago he promised Browne a fight back when Browne was a contender, so it's not impossible they use that narrative. But I'd be surprised if they took this now given the heat they'd get and because not only would they get no credit, Browne is a heavy hitter and could land something lucky. If you get lucky punched by a contender it can be forgiven but he'd never live down getting KO'd or even KD'd by Browne at this stage of affairs.
Good choice, this is a much safer fight than Agit Kabayel. We obviously want to see him fight top fighters every fight, but in this case an upset by Kabayel will ruin the Anthony Joshua fight. Lucas Browne is good for this one
Anyone that thinks that Tyson Fury is on anything but a cash grab these next few years is deluded. He will take the path of least resistance if he can. Can't blame him though. Go get that $£€¥$£$£€$£$€
