It was a great fight, and I can't wait to see the rematch. The odds will be very interesting. People around here are nuts to be writing off Fury.
I absolutely love the thought of rounds 13 to 24, but no way am I fully investing and riding this hype train as a given anytime soon. I can see more things going wrong than right here.
Tyson Fury can win a rematch if he sits down on his punches and throws more right hands. He needs to fight more like a big man in the earlier rounds because Usyk is always going to have the better endurance down the stretch.
Fury hasn’t actually triggered the rematch. Frank Warren said on talksport today that the rematch was signed for October (contracted prior to the first fight) but that he hadn’t spoken to Tyson since returning to the UK. Yes there’s a rematch that we all know about but I think it’s far from triggered and with Fury I envision many twists and turns and contractions to come. Plus let’s wait and see what the actual undisputed lineal world heavyweight champion wants first, as Fury no longer calls the shots.
This is great news and 100 percent the right decision from Fury. Losing twice to Usyk actually changes nothing from him losing just once, did anyone care that Holmes lost to Spinks twice instead of once? What Fury has got now is a situation where he has absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. Fury has a chance to beat the ATG Usyk. Imagine the adulation that comes from dethroning the great man and becoming a 3 time Ring Magazine Champion like Muhammad Ali. If Fury had of beat Usyk twice, the people would have said he was no good, just a pumped up Cruiserweight, but by beating Usyk and going 1-1 with the great man, Fury would actually receive more credit than actually beating him twice, due to the high esteem Usyk is now held in globally. Usyk would obviously start firm favourite in this but there is enough their to suggest Fury can learn lessons and improve on his performance. Excellent move by Fury, he will hold all the motivation in this fight. As for Usyk, I would advise him to retire at the pinnacle, but Usyk is a proud man, a man of his word, I expect him to honour the rematch.
Agreed. Both guys, due to delays in scheduling the fight, put in some long training camps. Plus, both took punishment durring the fight. October seems quick to me.
Agreed. Fury looked really good in spots. The fight was very competitive. Other than the 9th, Fury did not get run over by Usyk. It was one of the best HW fights in a long time. Fury would very much be in a rematch and he could very well win it.
