Isn't Fury's nose broken? That takes forever to heal.

I agree that October is very soon, but for Fury, he NEEDS it in October, while he's still in reasonable shape (and with little time to get distracted by his bad lifestyle choices), and can get in even better shape for the rematch. If his team tries to postpone the fight, it may be the worst decision they could make, because we all know Fury can't keep focus for long periods of time out of the ring. And that's especially true as he's been through multiple back-to-back training camps for such a long time already. He'll be itching badly to party hardy back home, and it will end badly for him. I mean, he did that after beating Wlad, imagine how he'll behave after LOSING?

So let me be the first to say (as an Usyk fan) that if Fury wants the best chance to be more competitive in the rematch, the fight needs to be in October.

The purses are private deals. Usyk was happy with his cut.

This isn't a traditional PPV revenue split where it matters. Any traditional revenue split would mean Usyk would always get 30% or LESS.

I would not be so sure, both fighters can improve and Fury will be sick as a dog not just for losing but acting the prat that ultimately cost him rounds that should have been his, round 7 swung it massively in Usyks favour and took over from there. Then there was the elephant in the room, well in the corner, his father giving advice over Sugar ! Sugar was needed for Wilder but not a boxer like Usyk,I still say Dom Ingle should have been the trainer for Fury after the Wilder fights . Glad to see we will have the rematch if not a trilogy.

LAMO. Who holds all the belts? That's right Usyk. Keep telling yourself that Fury is in charge.

HE can try, but who's to say Usyk can't just adjust to everything Fury's got. It was a great fight and I'd love to see it again.

Good on fury. Glad Fury triggered the rematch he can definitely win. Will be hoping he pulls it off. Fury could be incredible for this. I worry he could equally not come prepared at all though.

After all the years of faffing about it's funny to see Fury so eager to get back in the ring

He's not in charge. King Turkey runs the show. Very likely he will skim Fury's purse and give it to Usyk for the rematch.

I don’t see what Fury can do differently in a rematch. He even said after that he fought the best fight he was capable of. His problem is his stamina is just inferior to Usyk so when he fades later in the fight Usyk just gets stronger. The only way he could win imo if he takes the first 5-6 rounds and then goes into safety first survival mode the rest of the fight hoping the judges give it to him.

Corner needs changing. When he was out in the corner round 9 they shouldn't be barking commands at him. He has THREE PEOPLE giving him commands and information. Andy Lee telling him he had already won is fine, ONLY if they are happy for him to drop the round and survive. Not wanting him to take risks. Sugar Hill calling him the big dog all night is just lame and stupid. He was messing around too much in round 1 & 2. His stamina should be a touch better if he keeps training.

Impressive the amount of uppercuts Fury landed nicely. He normally wastes or misses them.

It was a good fight but, personally, I don't have as much interest in a rematch. Usyk won fairly clearly, without controversy (as in the right man won) and achieved his goal. I would like to see him retire and let Fury \ AJ battle it out to prove who is the second best of the era.

Just say Usyk is the best leave Fury out. Fury must still fight Joshau so we can know who is the second best.

    Or.

Usyk wanted to get Fury in the ring even though he (Fury) seemed not to want to fight... So he agreed to whatever it took to get the fight made.

Was the split for a rematch part of what he had to bend over backwards on?
    Maybe... It's entirely possible.

One half-formed (and possibly half-baked) theory that comes to mind...

It's possible that Fury doesn't want the rematch and has no interest in stepping back into the ring with Usyk.

    But.

That he'd trigger the rematch clause anyway out of spite.

Not necessarily even to waste much of Usyks time...
But to waste 2-3 weeks of it.

Or in other words - enough to get the IBF belt stripped away by denying Usyk the opportunity to take the (overwhelmingly likely very straightforward) mandatory defence with Hrgovic.

I might well be wrong on this one, I'm not sure I buy it myself... but the possibility occurs.

Will Fury get us to late summer and the fight will have to be rescheduled for spring 2025, thus ageing Usyk another year by the time it happens?

Is it even conceivable Usyk might take a fight in the meantime, something Fury hopes may prove to be a banana skin that will allow him to backpedal?

Unfortunately, Fury now has a reputation as someone willing to play games and stall deals just because it suits him.
