I've read another post on here today mentioning how terrible Fury looked in his last two fighs to go with the dozens of others. It's clear now that only a handful of people on the forum actually watched the Schwarz fight so here we are, just two exciting rounds of action to watch. We know Tom Schwarz is crap but this was a blisteringly good performance from Fury that for some reason has been chalked off as terrible. He doesn't appear shot to me. He was pretty decent in the first Wilder fight too so write him off at your peril. This content is protected
Fury looked brilliant against Schwarz. I think the criticism was rightly aimed at his level of opposition and the ability of Schwarz.
@Hattonmad you remind me of @Aydamn and Dillian Whyte now with your desperate defending and intense worship of Fury. Give it a rest man.
The Fury that turns up at Wilder II will be SIGNIFICANTLY better than the one who turned up at Wilder I. Nobody can possibly think otherwise. The only thing that matters is how Wilder deals with a Fury miles better than the one he scraped a draw against. My money is on not very well. The punches Wilder landed in the first fight will be hitting fresh air in the second fight. The punches he landed on Ortiz and Breazeale won't be remotely landable on Fury. Credit to Wilder though I think this will make him take some crazy risks as the fight goes on (and he's lost every round). Can't wait for it.
He did start slow against Wallin and maybe Wallin won 2 of the first 4 but after the cut the game plan went out of the window, especially with the ref ruling it a punch. I am almost certain without the cut Fury would have figured him out and gone into 'exhibition mode'. He certainly showed he had no quit in him, in all honesty the fight should have been stopped and Wallin awarded the TKO but Fury adapted and overcame and went on to win convincingly. The cut was horrendous, a double cut, one above the eye and one on the eyelid and was pouring out blood, there is no doubt his vision was severely affected. I Agree with Arum, the corner went into panic mode, they didn't seem to know what was going on (with regards to the ruling) and really didn't have any sound advice for Fury who pretty much had to figure things out for himself. I gave Wallin only 3 rounds of the 12 with a couple of the mid rounds being close (at best you could score it 5-7). It wasn't Fury at his best but I think the cut seriously impeded him, a more devastating finisher could have taken him apart.
Hardly. Between the general and brit forums I've read at least ten posts about how poor Fury was in his last two fights. It's simply not true so I decided to post the six minutes of footage from the Schwarz fight for the many who haven't watched the fight but like to tell us how bad he was in it. I don't talk extensively about fighters or fights I haven't watched and I think the forum would be a better place if others did the same. What's the issue? And with the Wilder rematch imminent, the footage is very much relevant.
While never completely irrelevant, the form guide isn’t as accurate with Fury compared to a lot of fighters. Fury has often fought down to the level of competition, and flirted with disaster in fights he was heavily favoured to win. He has put on career best performances though against the two elite fighters he has faced. I think he looked shite last time out. I can think of half a dozen fights though where he looked equally shite, spread across his career both pre and post his hiatus. Fury seems to be a guy who needs a mental edge to be at his best. I’m working on the premise that Fury and Wilder are going to come in pretty much at the level they were last time. There may be some differences in weight, but it’s really the same fight again, but with a lot of the questions already answered. Wilder will hurt Fury if he lands his bombs, but he isn’t going to win if he doesn’t.
Schwarz was manhandled by Gashi and his dropping and quitting to get the DQ is one of the most disgraceful displays I have seen. Outside of Kash Ali's absurd biting attempts and Mike T's actual biting, it is up there with the worst. Not sure whether a decent version of the fight exists on Youtube but if so is worth a watch.
Your right but having a victory over Klitschko when he was champion still reads far better than any of Wilders fights . Fury could only beat the opposition that was there at the time when he was working his way towards his mandatory position the strength in depth was not the same then as now. Looking at the chisora performance after seeing his recent exploits with Whyte and takam read very well otherwise if you discount Whyte takam Parker etc you then have to question AJ resume
There isn't strength in depth now imo. Seems if you fight Joshua then you are rated far more than you should be. Bar the top 3, and it's not that great of a top 3, the heavies are still awful. AJ has created alot of hype for the division but that hasn't made the division good.
Fury did look good against Schwarz but then again so would Dave Allen. Fury did look poor against both Pianetta (why I expect Wilder chose to fight him) and went life and death with Wallin. These performances show Fury is no where near the standard he was when he was on the PEDs and pre coke, food & booze binge.
