A focused Fury absolutely clowns any version Jeffries. A mercy stoppage in 6.

 

The real issue here is there is no version of Jeffries we can actually use as a point of reference.

Jeffries fought as the bigger man who ground down his smaller opponent.

He jabbed to back them up and would usually club or wrestle them up close.

Against Fury he would be the smaller man, which would mean he would have to fight a different fight.

We can't assume he would just try to walk Fury down until he submits. That tactic worked because Jeffries was bigger, stronger and harder hitting than his challengers.

Against a bigger man we don't know how he would fight. I reckon the Chisora comparison is probably the best one but it really is hard to say.

Fury is probably the only fighter in the history of the sport that I don't much care for but he's light years ahead of Jim Jeffries.
There are probably 5 heavies in the UK alone who'd take out Jeffries

When I was last on ESB back in 2016 he fell out with people regularly, mainly Mendoza, but he was always knowledgeable and had boxed too.

But yes I always liked him.
He did have a few fall out, especially Mendoza lol, but I don't know the full story.

There's a few of the older guys on here gone now. But suppose that's how it goes eventually.

 

They were both knowledgeable boxing fans even though they didn't agree, shame if they're no longer on here.

 

I used to like John Garfield and Burt Bienstock's posts and stories.
I PM'd JG a few times because we'd both boxed at or around the same weight.
They both knew as much as Nat Fleischer about the sport.

 

Has Burt passed on, he was as old as Jake LaMotta wasn't he?

 

I think he has.He was a kid when his dad used to take him to the various gyms where all the greats trained.
I'm sure he saw the likes of Zivic, Williams, Robinson, Bratton, Beau Jack, Graziano, Bummy Davis in action so would have been a fair age.
