Oh yeah.... I forgot. Remember that time a decade ago when I predicted Usyk would unify Cruiserweight, then move up and unifiy at Heavyweight, by beating AJ and Usyk, and become the P4P number 1 fighter in the world because he's a generational talent?
I expect this is trolling - likely to try and leverage or string along Joshua/Hearn in true Fury style…but if not, I’m intrigued. IMO, Kabayel is a very tough fight for Fury, not quite as talented, but tough and stylistically could be real trouble for Fury - who as we all know has an elusive head, but a very large body to target. Fury with the size advantage would usually clinch and wear down the smaller man - but I’m sure Kabayel would welcome a longer opponent trying to cut the range
@AdamT I seen your deleted post and youre right it would be 4 lmao. I forgot about one of them not sure which one, but that he had a trilogy with Chisora already is comedy.
There's no chance Fury will fight Kabayel. There's not enough money in it for him, and Fury is no courageous ring warrior who voluntarily takes on challenges. A Joshua fight would make more money and more sense for Fury, but for some reason he seems to have a morbid fear of AJ.
The money comes from King Turki. These fighters no longer need to even be a draw to rake in money. Fury Vs anyone sells. Kabayel is ranked higher and more respected than AJ hence he gets his shot at the 2nd best man in the division whilst Usyk & Dubious fight it out. Stadium sells out regardless. AJ is an irrelvenet BUM fraud who isn't even a top 5 anymore, he would be relevant if selling PPV's to British casuals mattered but not anymore in 2025. Nobody rates or cares for AJ anymore, he got brutalized and raped with ease by Daniel Dubious.
It seems a bit like the Khan/Brook rivalry - Brook chasing the fight, with Khan always saying he wasn’t worthy (even though everyone could see he was, and the public were calling for it). The reality seemed to be that Khan was very comfortable being the number 1 UK welterweight, and didn’t mind losing to world class guys as much as he feared losing to a domestic rival.
Yes and no. The money does flow from Turki... But he's not doing it just for the good of the sport, or for a laugh - it's all about attention. And how do you get more attention? Oh, you get fighters together who bring attention... Aka, fighters who absolutely are a draw. He's far more hyped right now, no question... But Joshua is still the bigger draw. And Joshua still has a serious resume behind him - Kabayel has the definitive gatekeeper (Chisora) and a 41 year old Chinaman who was literally 3-2-1 against top-200 ranked fighters (now 3-3-1) in Zhang, but beyond that it's very thin indeed. Either way, I'll believe it when I see it. I don't think Fury will fight again - he might tease it, but I don't think he'll actually do it.
Don't know if Fury is trolling. A huge fight at Old Trafford would be incredible though. Turki is probably calling the shots and my feeling is AJ is chasing Fury rather than Fury chasing AJ. I still think Fury's next fight will be AJ. Kabayel would defo be a good match-up for Fury though. But I'm not confident he will be Fury's next opponent, although Fury was meant to fight Kabayel in late 2020 before being ruled to fight Wilder in the trilogy.
If true, and given how they're friends, have sparred each other and they share the same management I would be surprised if it happens As big a fan as I am of Kabayel and highly as I rate him, this is a match up I would be worried about for him. Maybe he could get to Belly and beat him up but, by the same token, Belly might just be all wrong for him stylistically if he can box and keep him at range with those orangutan arms of his. Also, Belly's soul now resides in a wonderfully ornate hand carved antique Ukrainian trinket box on Usyk's mantlepiece. Belly had never stepped foot in a ring with a man he knew he couldn't beat before but his self-belief and self-confidence will have taken a huge hit after being bested twice by the same man. He tried coming in lighter, coming in heavy. Boxing on the backfoot, being more aggressive. Dirty tactics. Locking himself away from his wife and children for 3 months. Mind games, trying to intimidate Usyk. Ageing him out etc. and nothing worked or could help him find a path to victory over his Cossack leprechaun tormenter and master. You have to wonder how that brace of deeply demoralizing defeats will affect Belly mentally moving forwards when his body roams this earth without a soul? He was once the king of the castle and all he surveys but now he sees another man sitting atop of his throne in his castle and he has been rendered powerless to do anything about it, unless he can work his way back into contention for a completely undeserved trilogy against a shot Usyk who is already one of the oldest HW champions ever as we speak.
Kabayel is a rough match up for most, but oddly enough I think Fury has a pretty easy time dealing with him.
I think that little tease is more likely to be Joshua. And why not? Fury gets to pick the venue. Doesn't need to be in London. IF he does actually pick Kabayel, though...Have to give him credit. Kabayel is the inform fighter right now and in his prime. Apart from getting in the ring with Usyk, Fury has never been known to take those type of fights. Massive credit to him IF it is true. Massive IF
Must have got bored taking the bins to the dump. Hopefully he used the retirement to shed the Kronk parasite. Kabayel is a plodder Fury would destroy in his prime. He should still have enough to move around and land at will like a Chisora fight. Hopefully he gives AJ a chance to rematch Dubious before getting caught up in a Fury series. When Usyk's manager was partying in Kursk, I mean London, he told us AJ has the fire still, so AJ needs to get his revenge on Dubious before the fire burns out.
