Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua

Fury will have 3 **** fights then retire. If he had any serious ambition he would 1. have taken the Wilder rematch or 2. entertained the Whyte fight.

 

Why should he? He has already beaten him once. Fury has earned the right in the ring to do whatever he wants. He needs a couple more tuneups anyway to get back to peak.

 

No he doesn't need a tune up and certainly doesn't need two. Fighting Tom Schwartz offers him absolutely no benefit in terms of fighting Wilder again. As you just said, he already beat him so why does he need 2 tune ups to fight him again? We all also know that he won't be fighting AJ because of the network situation. So if he cannot fight AJ and doesn't want to fight Wilder and has no interest in Whyte, after he has his two 'needed tune ups' who does he actually want to fight after?

Didn't he have two tune ups last year? Is that what happens now, you have one big fight and then have two tune ups before another big fight.. Imagine if he actually won the world title, he would have had the ordered Wilder rematch, then Whyte or Brezeale waiting for him after that (no tune ups).

 

Thats pretty much what always happens, yes. Boxers have a big fight, if no rematch then usually 1 or 2 easier fights before a bigger one again.

 

It's looking very likely that the Wilder rematch will happen in December. After getting sparked in the 12th it's fairly obvious he needs a bit more time before mixing at elite level. Tyson Fury does what he wants. I'm sure he would honour the Whyte fight if he won the belt (why not? It would be a stadium fight in the UK) and Breazeale in all honesty is not far behind Schwarz in terms of ability.

 

Normally fighters are left with that as an only option to rebuild before gaining another world title shot. Not getting offered a rematch rejecting it and choosing two low level fights instead. I just think you have to question his ambition.

 

I have no words for the state of the top 3 in the heavies. It's ridiculous. You even have Whyte acting as a diva now also. The whole thing is a joke.

 

Agreed. Laughing stock of the boxing world at the moment.

 

If he is retiring sooner rather than later, why not have a couple of easier fights to top up his pension. Then, Wilder in December, beats him, then Whyte. After seeing Whyte struggling against a Chisora (& who Fury took apart) a ready made opponent. Joshua in his last fight before retiring. Which way that goes - toss a coin (& even protectionist Hearn won’t want to miss out on that money spinner)
