It's sure not out of the question but Cunningham is a decade ago and 2 1/2 years before he even won the title. It's a huge stretch and one i can't take overly seriously. Wlad was still decent as seen by his pretty good effort against Joshua.

What real elite skillful heavies in their prime and in shape would you say Tim beat? I can't see any of Tim's victims worrying Fury much. A 244 pound Tubbs ain't doing it. Page was out of shape and very disappointing, the Snipes result was anyone's fight, Thomas really stymied an in shape Tim, Bruno was Bruno. I'd take Fury's W record comfortably.

Fury is a level and a half above these guys (victims) for mine. He's a damn good fighter. I'm not talking about Fury from 2013 tho, i actually like the version in Wilder II, a lot.

A match with Usyk should tell us a lot about both of them.

You don't think their's much to fault about being dropped 4 times, and in grave danger of stoppage losses on 4 separate occasions against a so called unskilled bum?

I don't know. I always thought he was a bit past it for that fight.

He was, that just made it all the more amazing to me. He definitely was on his way out, and he came back and fought back with everything in him.

That fight, Shavers II, Weaver, Norton, Snipes...all showed just what an incredible championship heart that Holmes possessed. Yet it could be argued none of them featured his greatest boxing performances (Shavers I, Berbick, and Mercer were arguably those).

We haven't seen the best Tyson Fury, and never will. His competition has been terrible, absolute trash. He also doesn't fight often enough. These two reasons are why he never reached his full potential, as well as just about every other "champion" out there (there's so many of them nowadays).

I think loads of top ten ranked HWs pre-2000 beat him, never mind the real Champions! :boxing1

Wladimer’s height, jab and two handed power allowed him to stand at his range, fight when he wanted in his spots and his pace, stay cautious and just wait. He couldn’t do that with Fury – at any age. Fury would always be able to dictate that fight. Wlad just couldn’t effectively carry the fight to Fury, and probably never could as that wasn’t his style. Vitali would be a more difficult fight for Fury.

Lennox would be a threat. Maybe the first full blown giant that was fully coordinated and fluid with skills of a smaller man. He preferred out fighting, caution, and patience as well, but could in fight against big men also. Grant was not a real contender, but Akinwande was. Vatali dictated the fight early against Lennox, measured him at range which Lennox was not used to. Lennox adjusted mid fight and got underneath Vatali as an in-fighter and brawled. Lennox and Fury would be a great match up.

Holmes? Fury is basically a super-sized Larry Holmes minus the jab (which wouldn’t be a great weapon against a guy 6 inches taller). Similar skills, speed, durability, heart, attitude. I think the size is the difference.

I think Foreman could be difficult. Strength, durability and smart. He would find a way to get through to at least some degree. But Fury could definitely take shots from big punchers and carry on. for George to walk him down and get in enough shots on Fury with his better reach, speed, and classic boxing ability is asking alot, and I don’t think he could decision Fury.

The list of fighters who match up well against Fury is very small.

True but those types of numbers weren’t necessarily alien to Mike in his prime. Also, at least height wise, Mike would be giving up a more legit 8 1/2” to 9” - because Fury is more like 6’7”.

Not a comment on whether Mike beats Fury or not but if I were Mike, I’d opt for the following ring walk music, the opening lyrics are perfect……and I love the song anyway, haha

Yes. Usyk. You read it right here, please don’t forget. This is what I “feel”.

I can take the hit if the forecast is wrong - but the glory IF he wins? - well, it’s impossible to resist making the call now.

I’m not making the call for glory - I do believe it, unless Fury is waiting for Oleksandr to turn 137 years old (arbitrarily selected age :D) before he steps into the ring with him.

No question, Usyk will have to lay it all out - skills, guts and brains, but he will prevail in his finest hour.

He’s already proven that he has these attributes in spades - but there is still more in reserve, held just for Fury.

And Usyk has also proven that he possesses the chin to stand up to certain level and number of shots that might sneak through.

Unless it’s an impossibly lenient ref who allows carte blanche on leaning, wrestling and holding - we will see Fury floundering in the later rounds.

We do fantasy matches because certain fighters’ primes were separated by decades and literal generations.

Today we do many of them in respect of fighters who are active contemporaries - because it seems nigh impossible to actually get the best fighting the best in the ring.

A number of current careers are literally being built on speculated advantage over certain opposition that is available to be engaged but who are not actually being fought - the ultimate proof is in the ring - not on paper.

Per reports, it’s seems that the Usyk match is drifting away a bit rather than getting closer.

    Ridiculous.
