I hear you, but you keep insisting that TOP HW's wouldn't get to meet top S-HW's, they Would, under Sanctioned Board approval and more importantly it would be Factored into the Applied governance & rules, the diff is most of the time HW's would meet HW's, as Divisions should and S-HW's would only meet S-HW's, until and unless Board approves a Smaller Natural Size HW and to answer an earlier question you had... a HW 'allowed' to fight a s-hw, the HW doesn't need to weigh in 'over' the 225 plus poundage, why would he even bother, if he is a killer at 215-220 most of the time anyway, the few extra pounds aren't required, necessary and they might even hamper him.

the whole point of the separate Divisions, is to allow 'like' Sized Men. Height wise, to meet their own and 'IF' the smaller man can, again with Board approval, go nuts.

We don't have to agree on it, but I think a S-HW Division and only 12 divisions all in vastly improves Boxing. I'm sure a few others might think so too.

but it is absolutely no problem, Greg, that you and others might not think so.

I agree that it's fine if we don't agree, nevertheless, the discussion is interesting.

I still believe you're seeing a problem that isn't there. Which HWs do you think are currently suffering by having no option but to fight SHWs? Can you give me one real world (i.e. name the fighter and the circumstances) positive impact had your suggestion been adopted?

P.s. what you've described in your opening sentence is the current situation. I.e. sub 6ft 5ins HWs are allowed to fight SHWs in the governing board sanctions the fight.

Potgieter fought Simon Templar aka The Saint? The guy portrayed by Roger Moore before he became 007?

truth is I don't think I've watched any since Toe & Klit...

though I have seen AJ, that other crude looking Brit, can't even think of his name and I don't watch TF - an Owned & Secured into place fighter. So outside of Haye the Toe, I can't think because I'm not up on it. Usyk hasn't overly impressed me, though he is a Normal size HW, but there are a few others on this Forum who don't see as anything special either.

I told you, I am no longer really interested in Boxing now anyway and equally I always did prefer the lighter Divisions too.

when it was the Klits & LL, there were quite a few Smaller Top HWs and there probably still are some, but I presently can't name them.

Forget the Height thing, we don't agree on, but can you see 12 Divisions from Fly to S-HW 225lbs plus... that is the greater point here, 12 Divisions.

Sorry mate (I feel I'm being harsh on you, and that's not my intent), but Wlad vs Haye is not an example of a positive impact had your suggestion been implemented. Haye was the CW champion, so based on your own suggestions, he'd still have been permitted to challenge Wlad for the SHW title.

The key point is, and this really is the crux of the matter, any fighter too small to have a realistic chance of winning the HW title today, has the option of competing at CW or another lower weight division if they can make it. Usyk is proof any fighter too big to make 200lbs with a day before weigh in, will be the best HW, if they're good enough, regardless of size. If the 6ft 5ins, now 270lbs, Lawrence Okolie won a CW title, then I promise you any fighter too large to make CW is not too small to win the HW title. They may not be good enough, but it won't be because they're too small. Introducing a minimum 6ft 5ins SHW division would have zero positive impact. It would be to boxing's detriment in a multitude of ways.

I haven't seen your suggested weight divisions below HW. I'd be happy to give you my opinion if you posted them here.

I posted this in 2009... as a point of interest here are the 12 divisions.

    S-HW - 225lbs+ cumbersome loafs

    HW - 210 - 225 lbs.

    CW - 199 - 209.5 lbs.

    L-HW - 188 - 198.5 lbs. RJJ could have been a perfect L-HW

    S-MW - 177 - 187.5 lbs. Calzaghe stll a S-MW without to much effort

    MW - 166 - 176.5 lbs. Hopkins a 'true' MW

WW - 155 - 165.5 lbs. Hatton stll a welter without having to drop 30+ lbs.

    J-WW - 144 - 154.5 lbs.

    LW - 133 - 143.5 lbs.

    FW - 122 - 132.5 lbs.

    BW - 111 - 121.5lbs.

    FlyW - up to 110lbs.

I like the idea of same day weigh ins (I assume you're suggesting this given the examples of fighters you say would fit into each division), with controlled weigh ins in the lead up to fight day.

I think having any minimum or maximum height limits is crazy and wouldn't be taken seriously by just about anybody.

I think 200lbs is the perfect limit for the weight division below HW/the open division. Again, Usyk has proven a CW can be the best HW on the planet, let alone increasing the 200lbs limit to give a fighter too big for CW a chance to compete at world level, it's just not needed. There is 0 justification for creating a weight division between the open division and 200lbs.

Whilst I'm more open minded to you suggested modifications below 200lbs (i.e., I don't consider them crazy), I think I'd prefer it if we went back to the original 8 weight divisions, plus CW and minimumweight at their current limits.
