One week before the fight. HW Boxing fans should be PUMPED. I've wanted to see this fight for YEARS. I haven't been this excited for a fight since AJ Wlad. I'm picking Fury by UD or late (t)ko. Wilder, while not as good as Wlad overall, poses more of a style challenge for Fury. He has greater awkwardness, is less predicable, and has slightly greater length, which, in a game of millimeters, could prove decisive. If Fury showboats as much as he did against Wlad, he might get kod. Nevertheless, Furys greater skill level and still greater size and strength will prove decisive. Wilder has usually had trouble with the opponents he has faced who have A. Been skilled movers B. Been larger than him. See Splizka, Washington, Ortiz. In Fury he is facing his biggest and most skilled opponent. I think Fury survives a scare somewhere along the way to win clearly. I wouldn't be surprised if Fury clenched and roughhoused on the inside more than we expect, and makes it work for him. Who ya got and why?
Style wise I favour Fury but Wilder is the one with recent form with the win over Ortiz. We simply don't know how good or bad Fury is right now, but we do know Wilder is a top heavy and can punch. So I'm picking Wilder. Wilder will likely get out boxed for long stretches but eventually his power will be the decider. But if Fury does win, I won't be shocked, if he's at 80% he wins, because he's simply the more versatile and skilled fighter or at least he was at his best.
Wilder to start slow and struggle, get outboxed then take it to Fury later in the fight and stop him due to punch accumulation, similar to Ortiz fight. If Fury tries to fight on the inside: grab, maul and hold he may last the distance and lose on the cards. He's dreaming if he thinks he's getting a decision in the US.
