Why wouldn't Fury want the Joshua fight exactly?

He will just not at this time. Tyson always planned on having a payday for Xmas as he puts it. He’s getting £5m minimum to fight a boxer who is limited and he’s beaten twice already. He is on a £50m guarantee from Saudi for Usyk which he knows is only their for undisputed. If it doesn’t happen first quarter of 2023 the belts will fragment and some titles vacated and that payday goes. The AJ fight is there at any point in 2023 and can still be sold.

so he has to go in that order it’s also the reason AJ never happened because Fury never truly wanted it to. Although he does want the fight when it makes sense next summer

Not much difference in ability between the limited Joshua, Whyte and Chisora for the Fury Tune Up fight but really looking forward to the Usyk fight plus the challenge of Joe Joyce in 2023.

Granted it is not ideal, but at the same time TBRB, Ring, PBO boxing, ESPN all had Whyte in the top 5. If the whole body of industry experts and endless fan lists agree that Whyte was a top 5 fighter...then he was a top 5 fighter.

And it is a similar situation for Joshua now.

Granted Fury was stylistically all wrong for Whyte, but that didn't mean that he shouldn't have ever fought him. Plus it was Fury's WBC mandatory.

On that, I also agree that fighting Joshua now is taking advantage of catching him at a low. However, he is still a top fighter.

Anyway, water under the bridge. We have Del Boy to get excited for...

I think the problem is - in one way or another - they are all bums except Fury & Usyk & maybe Joyce currently

some like Wilder & AJ are capable of presenting a threat & producing exciting challenge but ultimately at this point beating them counts for almost nothing.

it's sad that Usyk and Fury don't fight each other

Not sure I agree with this mate. I don't think it was Fury's plan all along - the guy changes his mind like the wind, has done for years. Always contradicting himself and never consistent with anything for too long, same thing here. I'm sure he woke up one day and decided he would like to fight Joshua for some of the reasons he blurted out in all those videos, but then another day had doubts and decided he would rather have a soft touch.

He can't be that good of an actor that it was all calculated from the start, probably also depends on how much alcohol or other substances he is taking at the time. I imagine his team have all sorts of fun trying to keep up with what he comes out with. Feels too far-fetched that they would decide everything months in advance and Tyson executes it flawlessly in his many daily videos on instagram.

    &
Fury has gained nothing from it .
the Chisora match looks even worse than it did few months ago .

he wanted to face AJ but he didn't expect to have a battle of egos with Hearn & AJ
he probably expected them to bottle it straight off
or says yes & jump at the chance & to his tune
instead he was out-diva'd for a few weeks so went full diva himself
& now might actually be facing Chisora!

Fury should really only be looking at Usyk or at a push Joyce next. How on earth do you sell any other fight on PPV?

Joyce has much more momentum behind him than Del.

Momentum isn't an audience. Del has an audience, rightly or wrongly, and (at last) comes off the back of a win. And people will buy the PPV for Fury anyway.
