This content is protected so people thinks this man steve was a bum look at his movement look how fast he can come in and out steve could pick shots counter with a couple shots or mutiple combos from a missed shot while moving back look how he can move then quick switch to another angle and throw another punch can throw jabs quick from distance switch to another stance and throw combos and people act like joe could do better then this never have he seen this type of advanced movement joe would be destroyed fighting as slow and patient like he did vs fury you people look like crazy trolls to think this performance by steve was bad and think louis could do anything close to this nobody louis fought ever was this smoothly and advanced
After reading some of the posts on this site, I sometimes wonder if Joe Louis needed someone to help him get out of bed in the morning. What about showering? And God forbid if he dropped a pencil, and it ROLLED away a few feet.
This is a horrific mismatch. Louis is the same size as today's Cruiserweights. He struggled with a dude smaller than Callum Smith. He was decked by washed up never was, who even at his best never hit as hard as Beterbiev. (How many times did Loughran hit the deck against a prime Braddock, again?) Louis was a great fighter. No need for these silly match ups. What's next, Lomachenko vs. Louis?
it's not a mismatch cause the dumb quote goes like he beat tall fighters like max both of them conn and others it doesnt matter that they moved bad or not skilled all that is said is that they were tall so it means something with tall boxers like fury height is not the only thing joe would have to worry about he is way over matched in skill and movement
Apparently they had to use one of those care home hoists, to get him out of bed... When he was 25! Poor Joe wasn't very mobile of course.
It's really beyond me how people can't, or won't, understand that Joe trained and fought the way he did for the people he was fighting. He was an economical fighter with his movements. If you told him he was going to fight Galento and Fury showed up instead (fully prepared and trained to fight Louis) Joe would probably lose. If you told him he was fighting Fury, he would train to fight Fury. A different Joe would enter the ring than the Joe who fought Galento. This is why relying on film alone is not a good idea in predicting fights. And that's one reason why we're sometimes totally shocked at what happens in a fight today. I have said, after a fight, many times: "What was that? Where did that come from?" What a guy is capable of has to be considered in these hypothetical match ups. Clues come from looking at a guy's record and paying attention to what people said about him, who actually saw the guy, in fights and in training. If you remember Jim Brown, he looked horribly lazy at times. Was he? Or was he being economical with his energy? I choose to believe the latter and consider him at least one of the greatest running backs in Football History. His records speak for themselves. So do Joe's. Did they have off nights? Of course they did. They were both human beings. I sometimes literally spin my head in trying to understand why some people refuse to understand this. Take this advice, or reject it: If you base your opinions strictly on one or even 2 aspects of the available evidence about a fighter's career, and ignore the rest, that's not wise. Look at everything and try to understand what you're looking at. EDIT: Spelling.
Excellent post Dj, it's made me realise actually, things are never just black and white in life really.
