Are you really trying to use Louis's first career loss during his first two years as a professional and his last fight while he was an old, balding man being forced to fight because of the IRS to justify a point? You could of used Billy Conn as a better example who outboxed Joe for the majority of the 1st fight while Joe was still in his prime during 41. Collins, Schmeling and Marciano are all ATG's in their respective weight class though. I've witnessed Tyson Fury in his prime splitting rounds against Otto ****ing Wallin for christsakes, never mind getting knocked down by light hitting Steve Cunningham. Fury would be a fool trying the same tactics he used in the Cunningham fight against Joe Louis, would be career suicide.
How can it be up for debate?? Well the poll is 6 to 8. (Close) Joe Louis is an all time great at heavy Weight and fury dosent have the deepest resume let's just say that. Im neutral on this one as i can't decide
I pick Joe Louis because styles make fights. I don't have any nostalgia bias, I'm a 27 year old man who first started watching boxing as a kid in the early to mid 90's. Tyson Fury has shown that he has leaky defense and a not so great chin and power for someone his size. He can definitely be hit, and although he has great recovery, if Joe Louis has him hurt, he's finishing it off, the man is one of the greatest finishers in HW history and I've never seen anyone throw such fluid combos in the middle of the ring like he did. Joe Louis already has experience countering and neutralizing the jab. He was an extremely patient and fundamental boxer, he has the ability to set up a knockout punch anytime during the fight, he has shown this in numerous bouts. Fury has benefited from being an average champion during one of the worst era's in HW boxing, an era where body shots, combos and uppercuts are a lost art. I don't even think I've ever seen another boxer even try to land a body shot on Fury's fat body. Joe Louis would be landing hard, accurate counters on his torso all night long.
If you actually think Joe Louis can beat Tyson Fury you DON'T KNOW SQUAT ABOUT BOXING GTFO Fury would outwork him and crush his spine before shouting dosser at him as he lays on the canvas wondering why he tried to fight a man twice his size.
I havent chosen . but how about you make your case and join in the debate like a real boxing fan . be as blunt as you want
This isn't a debate, there is no debate. Tyson Fury cannot be beaten by any man born from their mother never mind cruiserweights from the 50's.
This kind of hypothetical fantasy fight is downright masochistic Joe Louis a top 5 ATG heavyweight all time and the best in his day sure & people take it as disrespect to discount him but he gets his head torn off and eaten by Fury. It's not right to think about these things. It's like a chimp trying to fight a gorilla
Neven Pajkic. Steve Cunningham. Yeah let's not even debate how one of the hardest punching, accurate, well timed, technically brilliant HW's in history might have a chance against Tyson Fury, a very talented drugs cheat who who has never defended his title and after 12 ears as a pro we still don't know how good he really is and got knocked down by the guys I mentioned at the top. I swear after a good win people on this forum go overboard on a fighter, it's like a drug, all rational thought disappears. Listen the Wilder 2 win was very, very good but let's see Tyson in with some one who can hit and has technical ability with some amateur pedigree first before going crazy. Let's see Tyson defend his title first before claiming he's too good for the likes of Louis, Bowe, Foreman etc. as is already happening.
