Tyson Fury vs Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by jcairns1, Oct 15, 2012.

  1. Depends on what sort of shape Johnson is in.

Either way I can see Fury winning comfortably. Maybe a "British stoppage" towards the end after a few shots land clean (ish) and Johnson doesn't fire back.

Good fight for Fury. Pisses all over Skelton.

Seems that Fat Mick is starting to move Fury up the food chain and looking at live opponents, if he keeps swimming then good on the fella.

  3. I don't see the point in people constantly comparing who Fury and Price fight. Fury is further on in his career and, IMO, isn't too far away from a World Title shot depending on whether or not Mick can get him the right fights in the meantime. Price is going for the Lonsdale and then will take the old fashioned route to the top.

it's beacause all the Price Nuthuggers* kept giving Fury **** for fighting Rogan and Maddelone even though really Price is doing no better.

*NB there is a difference between "fan" and "nuthugger", I'm a "fan" of Fury AND Price

Potential spoiler here. Johnson is pretty tricky and slippery.

Kudos for Fury if he wins this one clearly, I think Johnson's the kind of fighter than can make you look bad.

Unless, as suggested, Johnson comes in in "I don't give a damn" shape and sleepwalks the rounds.

Because they've called each other out and a lot of people have picked Price to win based on him knocking out second rate opponents. It's a bit of a swerve to say that Price is "going the Lonsdale route" as if that makes it ok to just fight British journeymen while calling out Fury who has already bettered anything he has done with a win over Chisora several fights back.

Beating Skelton and Harrison is no route to the top of anywhere, he won't be jumping any rankings and getting into a world title mandatory positions by doing so or learning anything new, therefore it's not a route to anywhere its just making £££ and treading water possibly going backwards. Instead of making excuses for him people should be demanding some better opposition and questioning his promoters wisdom.

It will do on paper. Former world title challenger but Johnson is ****ing awful. Over weight, overmuscled and tentative but with a big mouth.

I can't understand how anyone can doubt that this is a very good fight for Fury, potentially a tough fight if Johnson is in shape.

Seriously, since when did anyone rate Tyson Fury as anything special anyway ?
It was only a short time ago when the general consensus around here was that Fury was "pretty ****". I'm not too sold on him at all still. Although he's certainly improved since 2009.

Kevin Johnson's problem is his almost non-existent work-rate.

Strange, but Ive been confusing Johnson with the prize fighter winner,Tor Hamer. When I sussed it out,it made me think THAT would be a better fight for Tyson.Either man,in my opinion,Fury wins.
