Was just thinking about these match ups. Fury would be an absolute giant in Marciano's and Louis's age. Would the much smaller champions be able to slay the giant? Personally I don't like Marciano's chances of beating Fury I think Fury could move enough to out box Marciano's comfortably maybe even stop him at some point in the fight. Joe Louis on the other hand I could see eventually timbering Fury with a right hand.
Before he fought Klitschko, most people chronically under rated Fury, and I include myself in this number. After he beat Klitschko, people started to chronically over rate him. They forgot the blemishes of his earlier career, forgot that he was a fighter with only one good win, and assumed that he could catch that lighting in a bottle every day. He is being given too much credit in fantasy match ups right now, including in those that could still be made into reality.
Marciano would have more success than Wlad did because he`d be more aggressive and faster, Louis would destroy Fury the same way he did when destroying Buddy Baer who was 6'6 only it would last longer because Fury would be negative and back pedling constantly like he did vs Wlad.
When have we ever seen a 6’9 250lb 85” reach champion able to dance on his toes for 12 rounds, put up a high workrate, have very fast hands, have an incredible sense of range and distance, easily able to use his length and upper body movement to lean back and avoid haymakers, and switch to southpaw whenever and still box expertly.... Marciano wouldn’t land a glove on him..... Marciano would be giving up a 11” in height, 18” in reach, and 60lb in weight to a man who is an expert at keeping the distance......
Marciano`s hands were faster than Fury`s and more accurate and Fury`s work rate in his lousy boring fight vs Wlad was nowhere near Rocky`s.
Come on!!! 18” reach advantage, 11” height advantage, 60lb weight advantage to a man whose an expert at utilizing his length, can switch to southpaw, can dance on his toes for 12 rounds.... Marciano would be swinging at air all night! Mismatch!
Fury can`t punch his weight, Marciano would only have to get through once, Fury was knocked down by a bum called Cunningham.
Only point I'd make is that it's very difficult for a big guy to punch downwards on a smaller guy, and Marciano crouched low to get even smaller. Still would be difficult for Marciano to win. I suppose Fury by UD but it disgusts me to say so.
Is this even a question? Marciano and Louis by mid round KO. Fury can't keep up with Louis's skill and Marciano's raw power and pace. He would be outclassed in everyway. And people, stop acting like Tyson Fury is fast. Marciano would easily be able to get on the inside of Fury where his long arms are useless. For Louis, this would look alot like the Carnera fight. For Marciano, it would look like Dempsey vs Willard
