Fury would win this rather easily. Moorer's strengths were that he had a faux southpaw stance and above average power. His weakness were that he was a smallish heavyweight, chinny and lacked concentration. I just don't see a guy who started out as an LHW getting anywhere with this version of Fury. I get that Cunningham dropped him, but Tyson has improved a great deal. If he can take Wlad's shots he can take Moorer's. Moorer's power was awesome at LHW, just above average at heavy. Fury also wins the battle of stances since he can switch hit. Really, he Moorer wasn't that good. He went life and death with Cooper, who was blown out by more than a few, and he only beat Holy because Evander had a heart attack. For the concentration problems, just see the Foreman fight.
Fury slaps him It's took a long time for boxing fans to get over the fact that these 6'6"+ giants are the dominant force in the division now and the smaller fighters really don't have a shot since they don't make up for it enough with their skill/ability. Fury is special because his assets have NEVER been seen from a man of his size in the boxing ring before - funny enough the second man who comes somewhat close is actually Deontay Wilder...but he lacks in other ways.
Moorer out works and KOs Fury. Fury has style but lacks the fundamentals to deal with Moorer. Plus Fury is no KO artist.
Moorer is too small Steve cunningham is just as big without the added weight. Fury would take him on the outside and be able to work at the same if not higher pace than him. Fury doesn't need KO power...he hits hard enough since he is 250lb man...he would keep moorer off him with ease.
:think Possibly. When Fury is in a clinch he resorts to boxing which few guys his size do. They usually start trying to bomb on the opponent. When Fury gets dropped he gets up and starts throwing them hands like a Irish E. Honda. That's what made me a fan of his. So maybe.
What's worse than fighting a lanky 250lb man then finally getting inside of him after working hard to get there only to find out he can fight inside also. :scaredas: unwinnable situation - unless you are Mike Tyson maybe then Fury opening up works against him.
Against chinny Moorer you don't need to be a KO artist. Fury has enough power being a 250 lb man to KO him.
This. Moorer is twice the boxer Cunningham ever was. Moorer also fought plenty of tall heavyweights. He even beat Mike White, who was about the same size as Fury with about the same reach.
Moorer's chin wasn't that bad, he only got stopped by monstrous punchers & a razor sharp Holy. His flat feet will be his biggest problem against Tyson's excellent mobility. MM did fight someone Tyson's size & nearly KO'd him early, its definitely possible that he could do the same to Fury if he repeats the Cunningham performance. MM was a really good all round puncher & better than anyone Fury has fought so far (Wlad is shot imo) If Fury is defensively responsible MM will struggle to land anything significant & will get picked off from range, I'd bet on Fury by decision or late T/KO but MM has a legit punchers chance.
