I think Perez is wasting his talent with his inactivity he's very experienced has good speed and power yet he has only fought 19 rounds since the start of march 2009.

In the same time period fury has done 71 rounds against some good fighters, you could say this is a credit to perez ability to finish a fight but realistically it's because he has been undermatched.

Seems likely this will finally happen on November 12th. :bbb

From the scene... (thanks for finding this, dave-slave)

"Why would I not want that fight?," said Perez. "It's easy money and a chance to make a lot of people happy by knocking him out and shutting his big mouth. Fury is just like his fellow countryman David Haye, he talks the talk but he doesn't deliver. Fury's promoter asked about the fight a few weeks weeks ago when he still didn't have an opponent. I said yes straight away and asked them to send through a contract but we never heard any more about it.

"He says he's fighting again on November 12th so come on, put your money where your big mouth is and make a real offer this time. I watched the fight on Saturday night and it was a joke, it should never have been stopped. Fury was in more trouble in the third round than Firtha was when the fight was stopped in the fifth. Firtha was knocked out cold by Tye Fields, a guy I blew away in 32 seconds in the Prizefighter so I think that speaks for itself."

"It was great to bring the Prizefighter trophy back to Ireland," said Perez. "I love living in Cork and the people here have adopted me as one of their own. I dream about bringing the World Heavyweight title back to Cork and I'm currently going through the process of applying for Irish citizenship. I hear big mouth talking about fighting for Irish titles and basing himself here but it takes more than wearing a GAA jersey for 5 minutes or sticking a tweed cap on your head to become an Irishman. If he really is determined to establish himself in Ireland then why doesn't he make a genuine offer and "I was due to fight myself earlier this month but opponents are definitely running scared," said Perez. "Its frustrating because I don't want to waste my time and the fans time fighting journeymen. Since I won the Prizefighter my team have made genuine offers to established heavyweights like, Kevin Johnson, Fres Oquendo, Johnathon Banks, Jean Marc Mormeck, Jason Estrada, Travis Walker, Derric Rossy, Vinny Maddalone and Mike Mollo but I haven't bee able to get any of these guys in the ring with me.

"Fury has said before that he will fight me anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Well lets see now if big mouth is serious this time, I'm waiting on a contract for November 12th, it's time to put up or shut up."

Don't know how to evaluate talent?

This is the same Mrazek that Perez stopped but brought Fury the distance.

    From the scene -
"Mick Hennessy has come out and ridiculed any suggestion from Mike Perez that he deserves a shot at British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Hennessy is working towards unbeaten Fury returning to the ring in November on the back of an exciting fifth round stoppage of American Nicolai Firtha at the King's Hall last Saturday night.

Cork-based Perez, from Cuba, has come out and challenged Fury to a dust-up but promoter Hennessy says he can “forget about it”.

Hennessy commented: “Clearly somebody's little cage has bee rattled in Ireland after Tyson's great win at the weekend and from what I can see it is the people around him who are mouthing off, not Perez. I would be surprised if it was Perez because when Tyson was an amateur he gave him two very bad beatings in sparring and there were plenty of witnesses to it.

“That was when Perez was already a pro and Tyson was out of shape and a raw amateur. Since then we offered Perez the chance to fight Tyson at the King's Hall and after verbally agreeing to the fight his people then turned it down in order to fight Jonathan Banks on the Odyssey Arena show a week earlier in Belfast and ended up not boxing on either show. Clearly the people around him are desperate to get him a fight but it won't be on the back of Tyson Fury.

“Anyone who knows anything about boxing will know that Tyson is in a completely different league to Perez. This isn't three three-minute rounds like the amateurs or the one-night tournament he was involved in, it's a 12-round fight and Tyson would badly expose him.

“He had his chance to fight Tyson, talked a good game but didn't follow through so he has missed the boat. We're not here to be messed about, Tyson is moving on. So Perez, or whoever it is, can shoot his mouth off all he wants but he's just not in our plans now.”

Hennesy is being a twat in here. First of all Fury isn´t in a complete different level than Perez - hell, even Firtha almost KD`ed Fury last Saturday. Perez would have at least a decent chance of beating Fury, IMO it would be 50/50 fight.

Another thing that Fury -camp does, is spreading rumors about sparring that aren´t exatly true. They have said that Fury whooped Helenius´s ass in sparring, which isn´t true and I doubt that Fury did that to Perez either.

That said, the bottom line is that both Perez and Fury are both interesting and promising young fighters. I´ll be looking forward both of their fights (especially Fury´s because as character I like him - good thrash-talker and all-action in the ring).
