Old school tricks Vs modern size and movement?
Best of both guys, who wins?
    12 rounds and 15

Probably Fury by decision but if Tim is up for the task an upset is possible

I think if any eighty's guy can pull off an upset win then it's definitely Tim.
    Apart from Holmes of course.
I like the young fit version of Spoon to give him hell.

I don't think Witherspoon winning would be an "upset".
He's by far the more proven fighter.

Agreed let's compare both of their resumes.

    Furys best wins

    Wladimir Klitschko
    Deontay Wilder x2
    Dillian Whyte
    Dereck Chisora x3
    Otto Wallin
    Steve Cunningham

    Witherspoons best wins

    Tony Tubbs
    Frank Bruno
    Bonecrusher Smith
    Greg Page
    Renalso Snipes
    Carl Williams
    Jorge Gonzalez
    James Tillis

Fury has the stand out win over an old Wladimir which is clearly the best win between the two fighters. But overall Witherspoon has a bit more of a vast resume there's not much to choose between them honestly.

And Fury made 4 title defences and 3 of them were remathes and trilogies against Wilder and Chisora.

Fury on points, but Witherspoon may give him some rocky moments late on.

Whats crazy here is Witherspoon beat Furys resume despite

being blackballed from big fights after he turned 30
not holding a belt for nearly 10 years.

There isn't a great deal of difference to be honest, looking at their records.
I think if you threw them together now, prime for prime, then most will say Tyson Fury would be favoured
Maybe because he actually held the lineal title, came back from a lay off to draw the highly rated (At the time) wilder then best him twice.
It's the thing with Spoon that he never clung on to a decent run of wins for long, once he picked up a belt.
But I'd definitely give him, based on skills and toughness, a chance of winning.
Did Fury ever fight a guy with similar attributes to Witherspoon really?

Not really no and Witherspoon had a good over hand right which Fury is vulnerable to Cunningham, Pajkic, Wilder x4, all decked Fury with right hands and Witherspoon had a pretty good one.

I both agree and disagree. He’s beaten a deeper list of good fighters. But he also underperformed in some fights. Fury had a few performances like that too to be fair. The difference in height, reach and weight would be significant as well. And Fury had a solid chin was more than proven

Witherspoons overhand right is a perfect weapon against a taller fighter.

I also wouldn't say Fury has a solid chin he's being noticeably hurt and floored by non punchers like Pajkic, Cunningham.

Fury has good recuperative abilities but his chin is just ok IMO.

Tim Witherspoon was 6 ' 3" plus, close to an 80" reach, excellent defensively, a very hard two handed puncher who could fight. His best weight was 220 - 225 .. He had an excellent chin. If he came to fight he would be a very very dangerous match for Fury ... the reason I edge it to Fury is I always default to those who over perform to those who under perform. Fury came to fight every single time ... to me he could still be underfeated as both Usky fights were absurdly close. A very interesting match up.

He’s been floored ample times but some of that may have to do with balance. He has disproportionately long legs and is a top heavy athlete. But he’s never been stopped and has survived the artillery of Deontay wilder through three fights. On Witherspoon, I’ve always been a big proponent of him and have said for over 35 years that he’s underrated. I certainly won’t deny that he’s got a shot at Fury. Would I make him a favorite ? Not 100% confident that I would

I'd say Fury by competitive decision in an excellent match up.
