Tyson Fury would beat Mike Tyson

mike tyson had problems with any big heavyweight that had a good jab. Id favor fury to beat him. We know hes got a chin.

 

The very fact this is a debate right now is shocking. Fury hasn't done nearly enough to be considered one of the best ever.

Beating 40 year old Wlad and Wilder and not making a single title defence isn't nearly enough.

If Fury whoops Wilder again, Whoops Joshua, and whoops other top 10 fighters, then I give him a shot.

Not that shocking. People always have and always will compare fighters from different eras.

 

When did I say there was anything wrong with comparing fighters from different eras?

What I'm saying is if you're going to compare fighters like this and place them against each other in a mythical fight, make sure there's reason to compare.

Or how about I just make a thread - Who would win a fight, Chisora or Muhammad Ali? Takam vs Lewis?

What I'm saying is lets wait until Tyson Fury has fought someone close to Mike Tyson quality before judging this match up.

Otherwise how about Molina vs Foreman?

 

Well you said it was "shocking" it was being debated. It's really not, people love doing these comparisons.

The reason they're being compared is because they're at the top in the eras they were competing in. You can feel free to do those threads on Chisora or Takam, but it's a bit of a silly comparison because neither are top fighters in this era and you'd be comparing them to top guys of old.

 

Ok, but I think it's a stupid match up, because we really don't know just how good Fury is until he's properly tested when he's fully fit.

Just because Tyson Fury is a top fighter now, doesn't mean he should be mentioned in the same breath as the greats of old.

Look at the individual fighter and the times we're in, not just the rank.

In reality the top 10 now is still wide open. Everyone in the top 10 now can be said to have something big to prove.

Just look at all the top fighters in the top 10 now and realise they all have been inconsistent.

The next 2 years or so will give us great insight into who is actually the best fighter around. We can all rank Fury number 1, but in reality, he needs to prove himself consistent first.

 

I suppose so, but the way these forums work means people won't bother waiting around for everything to reach a conclusion before doing these comparisons.

 

Biggs is a good shout out. Other fighters I think Fury would resemble are Smith & Tucker. They both held on for dear life to last the distance with Mike. I see Fury using the same strategy. That's the only way he will go the distance (& still lose). Otherwise, he ends up like Biggs & Holmes (another fighter Fury somewhat resembled imo).
