Just got this off team Furys website, I think it makes a interesting read when talking about the Wlad and Povetkin fight! Mick Hennessy, the promoter for heavyweight Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KOs), is looking to get a tune-up fight for Fury in November to keep him sharp for his february 8th clash against David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs). Tyson and Hennessy dont like the idea of sitting idle for another 4 ½ months while they wait for Hayes cut to heal. They want to get back in the ring as soon as possible, and they want to make sure the fight is far enough away from the Haye fight not to put it in jeopardy should Tyson suffer an injury in his tune-up. Hennessy said to Sky Sports We are looking to fight soon. We are five months away and as long as we do something that wont be anywhere near the fight I dont see that being a problem. Tyson deserves that hes had one fight this year and thats not how Tyson Fury rolls. Hes a busy fighter. Hes used to fighting on a regular basis. Peter Fury, Tysons trainer and uncle, reacted to the hurried rearrangement following Hayes eye cut by saying: We are accepting February 8 but were not convinced they wont cry off again. Peter is worried that the postponement of this Saturdays battle of Britain is allowing Haye to buy time in case Alexandre Povetkin pulls off a shock world title victory over Wladimir Klitschko one week later. There have been reports of Hayes manager-trainer Adam Booth meeting Povetkins advisors with a view to securing first rights to a championship challenge if the younger of the two Klitschko brothers loses his several title in Moscow on October 5. Peter Fury says: If Povetkin does get the upset then we wont be holding our breath about our fight with Haye happening on February 8. We know how they operate because they came to talk to us while they were preparing for a fight with Manuel Charr, and then pulled out of that one claiming Haye had damaged his hand. There was more money for them to fight us on Sky. But if they can get Povetkin that will be even bigger money, plus there will be the world title on the line against a smaller opponent who they know will be easier to beat than Tyson. Because Haye is unreliable we cant just sit around waiting for him. Not when we remain unconvinced about the Haye fight taking place. We need to fight in the current time scale for which Tyson has trained so hard. So we are looking for a decent boxer for Tyson in late October or early November said Peter. For that fight Fury will revert for TV coverage to Channel 5, even though the clash with Haye remains scheduled as a pay-per-view event on Sky Sports Box Office.
Pulev's looking for fight too. Probably Chisora. I am not sure about Helenius. Or he may simply pop over to the states and knock Wilder out. Areola seems intent on coming back to big boxing too. Not sure how these fit the "decent" description.
No, that's not the case. Only his VOLUNTARY opponents sign rematch clauses. Most voluntary title challengers do so in boxing. If Povetkin as Wlad's WBA mandatory wins, he does not need to give Wlad a rematch, unless Wlad later becomes mandatory for one of the belts.
