i'm inclined to agree with this. it was a great performance from holyfield taking the fight to tyson like that but all the signs point towards to holyfield being a steroid cheat and it stops me from giving him the recognition his achievements would otherwise deserve.
he's just like hopkins in that he inflicts huge amounts of damage with his head and referee's let him get away with it.
Tyson got his ass beat. Deal with it. We've all heard plenty of rumours about Tyson being on the juice too.
I think the fight is a bit overrated. A great upset and a great last 2 rounds but a bit ho hum with all the clinching
Rewatched the fight and I didn't think it was that great. Too much clinching going on, ending was great though. Certainly better than all recent Klitschko fights though.
No, he beat Tyson down with his fists. You can be sure Tyson was giving just as much as he was getting. Couldnt take the rough stuff? tough. He spent a career, headbutting, throwing elbows, hitting after the bell, trying to break arms, biting peoples chests, and biting ears. He cant cry about it when someone else plays him at his own game.
Evander is the much bigger man, no reason he should be opening cuts and buckling Mike's knees with his head being stooped down like a battering ram. Tyson says himself he got hit with it once and almost fell.
Watched this **** live while in a Prison fire camp, everybody there except for two of us were calling for Mike to win this. But round after round you could see them become aware that Mike wasnt going to pull this one out. I won so much ****ing store from that fight, great fight we dont see fights like this any more
Underrated? Hell no. It was a great event, and a good fight. It won 1996 Fight of the Year by The Ring over fights like Barrera-McKinney, Gatti-Rodriguez, Bowe-Golota 2, Liles-Littles 2, and Kelley-Gainer 1. One of the worst choices for FOTY from the 1980s-on.
