....OK, i never saw either fights but i was on Youtube and checking out some Tyson videos and i am seeing him interviewed by Jim Gray right after their second fight. And Tyson stated that Holyfield kept bumping heads. He even said that at one time, he made eye contact with Holyfield just as he was about to do it again. He even said that Holyfield did this in the first fight. Any truth to this? Tyson had a huge gash from a head butt in the 2nd round. And in another clip on youtube, Tyson said that he couldn't remember anything after the 3rd round because of a head butt. Are these excuses or legit gripes?
Yes there legit, I had a couple amateur fights and know first hand that alot of fighters love to lead with there heads and even try to come up under your chin and bump you, I caught a couple headbutts that were hard as some punches that got through the guard. Tyson did say after the first fight he didnt remember anything past the 2nd or 3rd round, and after the fight at one point he thought he won the fight, until his cornermen told him he lost. I think Holyfield was butting him in both fights and they obviously took there effect on Tyson, so in the second fight he took matters into his own hands and fouled out. He refused to be bullied again like he was in the first fight, I think he should of low blowed Holyfield to send him the message that way, but he decided to bite him instead.
Listening to that big panel show thing they did with Steve Albert (its also on Yotube) after the first fight, Tyson said he didn't remember anything after one of Holy's headbutts. Got butt in some early round, and from then on, he didnt remember anything. That is laughable. I bet if Tyson would have won, he'd have remembered everything, very clearly.
Holyfield did butt him in both fights no doubt. Still no excuse to bite a chunk of his ear off though is it?
Holyfield was butting the **** out of Tyson....just watch the first fight....those are some brutal, intentional headbuts from Holy...if you dont agree with me just rewatch the first fight
Tyson does not have any right to complain about Holyfield's dirty tactics because he is a dirty fighter himself.
Holyfield was the hero in that fight, because Mike bit him, but if Tyson wouldnt have, Holyfield could have possibly been disqualified in the second fight for such horrible headbutts. Tyson was cut very badly over both eyes from headbutts. It turns out Holyfield was one of the most blatant cheaters, as he continued to do it to numerous opponents after that fight. Their styles will always match up like that as both guys come forward, and Holyfield by habit, always leads with his head first.
What does my age have anything to do with this? I simply asked if there are any truth to the statements that Tyson made when he said that Holyfield was head butting purposely in both fights which affected Tyson. And i think there is some truth to that. That's why i'm asking the board for their opinions. No need to degrade another poster when asking a legit question. I never said it was an excuse. Just asked a question.
Why do people defend this man so vehemently? Not sure you would if it was one of your family members he'd commited his misdemeanours against. Good call on the tea though, could do with getting away from the desk for a bit.:good
