I've never quite got the Louis adoration, as I agree completely with what you said.

Maybe the old film footage doesn't show a fighter's true speed, but he didn't look to be an especially fast heavyweight like Ali or Tyson were in their prime either.

 

Although I disagree with the ranking and Tyson being the "only" one who made it look really beautiful, I agree that he was a beautiful fighter to watch in his prime.

His punching technique, finishing ability, and combinations were all things of beauty. I ****ing love his famous right hook to the body, right uppercut to the head combo, just watching the leverage he gets into his shots.

I know he didnt hold the belts for a long period of time but he was the youngest heavyweight champ of ALL time and he unified the belts.

As far as amassing highlight reel knockouts, Tyson is my favorite, followed by Louis. I guess Jackson would be 3rd.

 

Just for shits and giggles I sometimes think even at this age, IF he were to be focussed again and IF he changed his life and made a foreman like comeback, he would still knock out allot of the bumbs we have right now! He still has that crazy power. I still wouldnt put him in there with wlad or anything.But of course I know this wouldnt happen.
