We saw what happened to Breland. It would have been a condition set in stone.

I agree that Wlad was past his prime and ready to be dethroned. Still, even an aging Wlad was good enough to bounce Joshua off the canvas much later. I wouldn't want to be hit by the guy regardless.

Yeah but this isn't a linear thing. A given version of a fighter can be worse than a subsequent version. Wlad didn't fight against Joshua the way he did against Fury. He fought less scared against the bigger puncher. Something was off that night, and if he instead fought as bravely as he did versus AJ, it may or may not have changed the outcome but certainly Fury wouldn't have found it as easy a night's work as having someone flinching and refusing to engage for 95% of the match.

Not being funny but there a quite a few I reckon would pull wilder apart. Fury did the job but really needs to focus again if he wants to stay at the top of the tree. Respect to both fighter tho both put it all out there

He has some movement of his own and bodywork should be his strategy.

Considering all the trash talk from Wilder since his last loss, I admire his will and effort in the ring today. He fought like a man, and never gave up. Fury did not impress me as much as in their second fight. His footwork seemed a bit slow, but he got the job done. This version of Furty could lose to other top heavyweights, but we never know what version that shows up. Hopefully there will be a unification fight now, Usyk - Fury. AJ should understand his chances might be better against Fury. A rematch with Usyk, and he might never fight Fury.

And we learned that Helenius is now the WBA mandatory? Interesting development. AJ fought Pulev for the IBF, and Usyk was the WBO mandatory. Fury might have to deal with Whyte now for the WBC mandatory, should he win against Wallin.

Helenius might actually get his shot against the winner AJ-Usyk, before Fury can challenge the winner AJ-Usyk?

Fury seems like the type that's smart enough to realize how crazy and absurd boxing is, and I think he might have been processing the weight of the fight, the very real and lasting damage they just did to each other, and the possibility Wilders not ok, and doesn't like some guy asking him to rate the battle he just went through.

I know boxing isn't comparable to war but it would be like a guy just getting back from war and having some happy excited civilians asking him how many people he killed, and that approach being off-putting to the soldier.

Idk... that's just the vibe I get.

What a scrap! Every single round had me on the edge of my seat. I lie I couldn't sit down. Watched the whole thing on my feet. I had it even after 4, Wilder won the 5th and Fury had every round after. Wilder was on his feet for the majority of the fight.

Really impress by Wilder’s heart. Just wish he was more gracious in defeat.

Fury's inside game is really good. He is the definition of tactical. The way he positioned himself to lean on Wilder, the way he targeted Wilders ear, the inside uppercuts. If Fury beats the winner of AJ/Usyk rematch then he proves he his cut from the same cloth as the Top 20 heavyweights of all time.

Incredible main event and the whole card was worth every cent of the PPV.

Okay, now that my pro-Fury jitters have calmed down:

Wilder is a beast. Man did things I said were not just wrong but idiotic; coming in heavy, changing to Malik Scott, yadda-yadda-yadda and you know what?

He took it to Fury. He had Fury in trouble. At times he outboxed(!) Fury. And don't anyone give me that, "Maybe Fury's not that good hurr-durr-durr" because you know that isn't true, at least by modern Heavyweight standards. Wilder got him with two shots from when he looked like he was done and almost pulled it off; might have if he stayed in a neutral corner and didn't force Mora to stop and restart the count. For all the excuses, for all the fantasies, for all the off-putting bullcrap and weak resume...Wilder's a fighter. And deserves his credit for what may be the fight of the year.

...also Usyk probably beats them both but shut up.

...okay, I did my reasonable human being analysis. Back on Fury Fan time. A-hem.

    THERE'S ONLY OOOOOOO~NE TYSON FURY!
