I think he intended to land the elbow but it was more the forearm that landed, luckily for Ngannou.

It is virtually impossible to pass judgement on a trainer based on one fighter and one fight.

If he was going to foul like that, he should have gone for a horizontal elbow right above the eye to get some blood flowing into his vision. A reverse vertical elbow on the top of the scalp was a poor choice.

Yes totally agree... I'm thinking of making a start to becoming a boxing coach in the next 10 years, and even before this fight ,one of the things I though most boxers where missing is the inside/ clinch game. Most gyms just say " don't stay on the inside", so no one seems to train for it just want to avoid it, so whoever trains for an inside fight will have a whole extra dimension to them. Problem is some refs allow inside fighting others instantly break it up.

I believe you are taking the credit away from Ngannou's actual trainers.

Tyson was brought in for promotion value. Also due to Ngannou being the next "Mike Tyson" comparison.

As soon as your referee and just as importantly your judges are named, you need to be prepared to make last minute adjustments to how you are going to approach a fight.

Never though about that tbh. Seems obvious now you say it.

Although I believe fights are won with the drills done in training. I guess you could drill 2 separate tactics into your fighter and be ready to use one or both on the night, but thats allot of work

Yes, I'd recommend that. I'm part of a Muay Thai club and clinch fighting is something that is majorly trained and drilled for. Francis literally pulled a half thai-plum at one point on a shocked and befuddled Fury. I believe in old school boxing they trained the clinch much more than they do now.

Yes, the clinch is supposedly something "discouraged" in boxing but in practicality it does happen and can dictate a fight.

Heard an interview with Tim Tszyu recently and he touched on the topic. Said he researches the referee and judges and works out what their preferences are from past fights. It makes sense. They are the people you will be working with on the night and the judges will likely be who determine your fate.

This fight shows us everything we need to know about Boxing and what is wrong with it, aka:
    - Media/Promoters hyping a complete bum and label him as the Best HW
    - Cherry-picking opponent, while ducking the top guys in the division
    - Cherry-picking gone wrong, but the judges are there to save the day
    - Promoter and media then trying to save the day for the star with all kind of nonsenses
    - Blatant corruption at it's highest
    - The referee somehow miss the complete dirty play by the "right" guy
    This content is protected

    - Aka Boxing rules applies only to the "right" guy

This alone should have lead to straight up point or even two deduction as this elbow was 100% intentional.
    - Constant holding, which again is allowed only to the "right" guy

Let's not forget that all the legends and all the eyes was on this fight. All the Boxing legend, MMA legends, stars people were at the gala.

Everyone knew Fury clearly lost that fight. Everyone see and now talks about Boxing corruption, and how the HW Champion cherry-pick a MMA guy just to lose to him, and the Boxing corruption to once again shine and save the day.

Fury and Warren literally killed any integrity that Boxing has left, and they did that infront of everyone eyes.

And people were saying that Fury will help Boxing grow, as this fight will lure the MMA audience when Fury destroys Ngannou. Yep this surely didn't aged well.
No MMA fan will wanna see a Boxing match ever again, and can you blame them?
Blatant corruption, and then everyone try to excuse it, and saying it was close fight, blq, blq, blq, blq.
This pic should be in every single Fury thread, and let that sink:

The supposed best HW(he never was) was beaten by a long retired(2 years of inactivity) MMA guy, who was also pushing 38, and has never had a PRO Boxing fight in his career.

Welcome to boxing. There's a reason no one's pushing for a single governing body for the sport. Too much money to be made in this corrupt business.

Not sure if its been mentioned and I have to review to check myself and confirm the timing but did anyone notice that a full 20-21 seconds elapsed from when Tyson hit the deck until the fight was waved back on?

Tyson arose at about 5 or 6. So that means only another 3 or 2 secs left to complete a mandatory 8 count. By the time the ref got back to Fury, time for a reasonable count of 8 had passed, probably even 10 at least. Yet the ref arrives, and continues to toll off numbers??

After the ref stops counting, he checks on Fury then waves it back on. With all that, I got about 20-21 seconds.
