Tyson Luke Fury vs. Francis Zavier Ngannou

He had his chance to clean out his division and make a name for himself amongst this generation of fighters but it all started to go south after the Wlad fight. He ran from the rematch citing mental illness and what's even more ironic is he paints himself as some sort of bastion of mental health and of the voiceless yet look at what comes out his mouth! Can't stand the guy and the backpedaling and goal post moving during the Joshua and Usyk negotiations put me completely off him. I was actually glad when he beat Wlad but he hasn't been a good champion at all

 

Hahaha I like the part about riding off into the sunset with Fury's soul but as much as I don't like the man I think he might beat Usyk. If he's allowed to clinch and rabbit punch he might overwhelm him but the way Fury's been ducking maybe hes not confident.
The height difference didn't actually look like much when they were in the ring post Ngannou fight but when I saw the video of Usyk training and goading belly he did seem quite small. Having said that Cunningham dropped Fury so there's hope

 

No but it could make Usyk overconfident anyway.

That's not to say he won't prepare well; he's a consummate pro and will leave no stone unturned but it's often the case that fighters need to feel seriously threatened to perform at their absolute best. Usyk won't feel as threatened by Fury now.

Did Usyk feel seriously threatened by Briedis? I don't think so:

Did 1/8 favourite Usyk feel seriously threatened by 9 loss Chisora? I doubt it. That's his 3rd most competitive fight, after Briedis and Joshua 2.

He looked sharper in the first Joshua fight (which he won relatively easily) than he did in the 2nd, though I think this was at least partly due to tactical improvements from Joshua.

Whereas for Fury it's the complete opposite: if anything's going to give him a kick up the backside and provide focus and discipline for the next few months, it's going life and death with an 0-0 MMA fighter in front of practically every living boxing legend. Or maybe Fury will retire. But either way it's a fascinating situation right now.

Fury performed bad because he took his opponent lightly and trained half-assed. He didn't 'try' to look bad, he just looked bad.

 

What i can say is once again the boards are full of Fury fever, he usually dominates the boards around here & it's pandemonium just look around the obsession is real.

Couldn’t put a dent in Ngannou, also in Wilder 1 didn’t really hurt him. KO’d him in 2nd and 3rd fights but maybe Wilder’s claims of glove tampering aren’t too far fetched after all. Fury has no power and it showed against Francis

He wore horsehair punchers gloves for Wilder 2,3 and foam gloves for Francis. Protecting his hands is important and no Fury has never been a puncher. He hits hard enough to keep people honest but uses attrition, size and stamina to knock people out.

Whyte & Nascimento are some of his rare one punch KO wins.
