Oh God here we go with the chin thing again. I don't rememeber anyone talking about what a great chin Hearns had after taking many rounds of bombs from Leonard. many fighters finished fights against Douglas. How about actually find a few fights when Tyson finsihed wars, when trying to build up his chin.
atsch Hearns was KTFO by a lesser fighter before, and was also KTFO by Hagler. Hearns was competitive with Leonard, and in my opinion, won the first fight. And then you have Tyson, who took a vile and savage beating, unable to fight back. He didn't opt to quit, but he kept on trying to knock Douglas out, even though it was clear that he didn't have a chance.
There were signs of Tyson's decline in the Bruno fight. While Tyson lost fair in square to Douglas, his corner didn't help him much, and Buster had dedicated his efforts to his mother who passed away prior to the fight. Douglas always had good tools. We have seen this before. Giant killer types who are underestimated and motivated can produce shocking upsets. Tyson vs. Douglas was a historic moment in boxing history. People will remember where they were, and who they called after the fight was over. The ring action itself is very good as well.
So, are you telling me Tyson didn't have a good chin? If you are, then what type of Chin, did say, Lennox Lewis have, as he was Knocked out twice, by single shots?
For crying out loud don't try turning this into a lewis thread. It's about tyson, his interview and his acceptance of his loss. He took his beating like and doesn't hide behind excuses. For this I credit him. If you wanna discuss lewis's chin make your own thread about him. If he's your favourite fighter fair enough but don't drag other threads into debates about him.
Good on Tyson, i rate his chin in the iron stakes lol He took a huge shellacking from Lewis in their dud fight in 02, to the point where both his eyes were closed & bleeding...watch the post fight interview in the changeroom with tyson to see the damage on his face...But he copped it fair and square for 8 rounds! I always liked that "attitude of old" from traditional fighters of the past
He did show a warrior's mentality till the end. It's such a shame that it was douglas who beat him in 90, had it been holyfield I think his legacy is massively better.
All recent interviews and pictures suggest he's got his life back on track. It's great seeing a boxing legend lite a happy life after what they gave to the sport.
I LUV FOREMAN....BUT I HATE TROLLS......THE FUNNY THING FORMAN HOOK.................IF U WERE TO LAY $1000 ON A TYSON/DOUGLAS REMATCH.....I KNOW WERE U WOULDA LAID DOWN YOUR CASH.......AND U KNOW IT ALSO....STOP TROLLING ITS BORING MAN:smoke
